It literally sounds like a joke. MUM48? What? Mom48? Will it be a group full of mums?

Jokes aside, India is the least expected country imo. It’s not really stereotype and no offense to anyone living in India but although India is no doubt large in population, isn’t the country quite poor and behind on everything? Except for bigger cities, is the music going to travel to smaller cities?

But since AKB is planning to go out to South Asia, I guess India would be the most logical choice.

By the way, to anyone talking about NYC48 whatever, the group is always named after the country’s capital (except SNH) so it would be more like Washington DC probably unless they see better values in NYC48 instead of something like WashingtonDC48

 

Or MII and MIII (Depends on who gets to it first).

I doubt this is the case in this situation. Nobody knows about female Idol group up here in India. However K-Pop & Anime are becoming popular . One thing I can assure it will create quite a controversy among the Orthodox people of India.

Considering India's population (1.32 billion) even if a small percentage of so many people becomes interested in the group, it could have a huge fanbase.
Very unexpected move, but with lots of promise, I think...

Well, I'm gonna trust Aki-P's business sense on this one though I personally can't really see this group becoming popular at all, but, as people before me already wrote, with that many Indians it might somehow work out in the end.
(Also, the abbreviation is kinda ridiculous)

 

My first thought about the name was the same. It just sounds like Mum/Mom. I'm sure they could have thought of something better ^^; Also curious about the teams. Two Team Ms in the same group will be confusing, especially if new fans aren't familiar with the concept of how AKB and sister groups work. Maybe they'll handle it differently?
