    JYP actually will be debuting 2 groups (1 in Korea (6mix) and 1 in Japan) around that time (2013-2015), but everything happens so they merge both projects on a reality show called Sixteen that makes Twice.

    and I see overall J-pop fans don't like NiziU, since they're not "originally" from Japan.

    They're a Japanese girl group pushed to hell by Sony in Japan for money imo. We don't have to dissect them and put labels on them but if one has to choose between K/Jpop to explain their identity I'd say they're a Kpop group. Not many in Japan think they're a Jpop group either. I've seen variety shows in Japan where they were discussing the popularity of NiziU and attributing it to the Korean wave and people having extra time to watch Nizi Project on Hulu because of COVID. It's only the international Japanboos(IDK is that a word) who want them to be a Jpop group because they seem like the next big thing. Think of them as Twice but with all Japanese members for the heck of it. What's funny is that there are people in both Korea and Japan who do not like them because they don't have a clear identity, but next year is when NiziU starts activities in Korea as well and people will begin to realize they're just another Kpop group. But the most phrase used in Japan to explain their identity is 日韓合同group which means Japan-Korea coproduced group. The same phrase is also used when they introduce IZONE in Japan. These groups include JO1, IZONE, NiziU and I hear another Produce 101 Japan and another Nizi Project so more of them will emerge..
