Well, she lost the trust of other people (not only fans, but staff and members). Many began to look at her as a good actress. All so good, she reads morality to others, but she herself does not live in accordance with her own words. Maybe you, as her fan, are just a cash for her? Maybe she's just the most disgusting person in the world. Likes money, drugs and kicking cats. There was an illusion that she was a good person, now there is an illusion that she is a fake person. Previously, fans could not accept that Nana would break her rules. Now fans do not know how many sins are hidden behind her smile.
Imagine that the kouhai you taught morality are now looking at you as a liar who actually has no morals and loves to spend nights with men. Or maybe even worse. It's hard...
It's not a dating issue. Loss of trust. It's all very ephemeral. When Sumire left, people were at a loss as to why? The rising star, the gravure queen, is leaving, sad. Nana's departure is expected and approved by the majority. There is a sense of the correctness of her graduation from AKB48 and justice.
And there is no love ban...

 

The decision was expected. I imagine her original plans were to announce it during her solo tour, but the fuss around this news... forced her hand a little bit.

At least she's not resigning on the spot, so hopefully she'll get some sort of send-off.

Sure management might not be actively enforcing one, but they can hide behind the fact that they don't NEED to.
Why would they need to risk the bad press of putting it down in the contract when clearly the fans will do the work for them

I get what you mean and I quite frankly just find it absurd. She isn't kicking cats. She fell in love. We didn't find out anything bad about her, we found out she is a human person who fell in love. There is no morals that can change love. Love just happens to you, no matter what your personal stance on the matter is.

 

Nana changing her mind or self as a person isn't wrong by itself, but that one thing she choose to change is something that should be static WHILE being an idol. You don't need a written rules if a norm is already there, yes yes its just a norm you can violate it anywhere anytime and won't get fined or jailed per se, but the punishment will still be there in the form of social punishment which range from being disliked, losing of trust or even shunned and we clearly know that what nana gets is the outrage and lose of trust from 'some' of her fans which end up causing her to opt to graduate.

Welp,how about stop being the fans of Okada Nana the Idol as of today and start being a fans of Okada Nana as a mere human,afterall the current Nana is more than a mere 48G Idol.

Lastly,loosely citing from previous posts,a "True" fans will stay loyal no matter what happens. Let's see if you, me and the others here is truely "True" or not

 

I will always stay a fan of Okada Nana, but the situation is.... To explain it is how I am with Techi. I adore Hirate Yurina the person. I think graduating for her was the right choice and I am insanely happy for her. However I am not as big of a fan of actress Hirate Yurina as I am/was of the idol Techi, purely bcs I am not as interested in their activities.

I will stay a fan of Okada Nana, but her activities will now become a lot more difficult for me to follow, her content will be a lot harder to access and overall there is a high likelyhood that her activities might not be something I am interested in.

 

Why do you think she don't like kick the cats? When people lose trust, anything becomes possible. And that's the problem.

And no, it is more likely that the girls themselves leave after the scandal. It is impossible to work in a work team when you lose the respect of your colleagues.

 

Agreed and I really hope she gets a proper send off. Please Shinobu make it a pretty grad dress.

Late graduation announcement. She doesn't deserve any applause. It looks like she's running away.

Graduation date is undecided so she could be living in the same house with her BF (or husband) before graduation concert.

If she announced graduation on the first day with a clear apology (instead of using Mion to tweet about the love ban bs), maybe slightly better.

 

She gave 10 years of her life to the group. I was already expecting her to announce her graduation soon, even before the dating scandal. Shame she couldn't graduate without the scandal since it would have been better for her career but nothing to be done about that now. I wonder how long before Yuiri is gonna announce her graduation... That said, she doesn't seem to have many prospects outside of AKB so she will probably keep milking the cow until there is no milk left.

And it's her father who helped her purchase the house? Guess he was so relieved that it was a dude that she's dating that he quicky pushed her towards that heteronormative lifestyle.

 

I'm getting flashbacks from the time Yaguchi Mari simply disappeared one day from Morning Musume because of her dating "scandal". The sad thing is that that happened 2005 and it seems that in 17 years nothing has changed.

Ohwell, give her another single center, a graduation song with the musketeers and YNMO and a Budokan send-off!

her whole idol career was basically saying she wouldn't cross that line, she even told her fans she wouldn't cross that line before she worked with the guy
and so she pretty much dug her own grave and supply her haters with ammo

now mion getting hate is more unfair, but she should've spoke up when other girls were in a scandal, but she didn't so she basically set herself on fire for nana

 

OK, Now I am in a situation where the leader of the team in which I work supports and stands up exclusively for the person who is close to her.
I fully support all the negativity against Mion. And I'm going to sign up for her haters. I hate these type of "general managers". Get her fired!!!

 

Idk i don't think graduation is the solution. And indeed... the graduation announcement does not seem to appease people who are disappointed by her and/or her antis. In fact, she got a new label (coward, running away).

Let's face it. She was in lose-lose situation. If indeed management does not want her to leave, she couls make use the opportunity to show that she can make up for her misdeed. For example, by willingly to take a sort of punishment? At least even just for an image... It would do better for the group's brand and more importantly, hers.

I personally am fine with it. But many sees it as humble bragging. People think she does not learn from Mion's and her insistence that: 1) love ban does not exist, and 2) the management does not give a damn abt it, and 3) that means her action is not violating the rule, only causing public grievances... which was not what the public issue. This gives public the upper hand to even criticize her.

"She wants to apologize but why does she keep insisting that the fact that rule does not exist means her action is forgiveable by the management...?" Not my thoughts, but many has this thought

Looking at it now, with Okada graduating, while AKB will be losing a popular member, but after half a year, things will just be business as usual. AKB will be as relevant or irrelevant as they were days before this scandal.

Sad, had my hopes that Okada will be a part of AKB when or if they become relevant again to the general public.

 

Like, I get how it can be seen as nepotism or favoritism, but who else was Mion supposed to speak up for? There's only been 2 notable scandals during her tenure, and one of them was an actual scandal, not just a love ban violation. The Moeka thing could have just been ignored, and that's what they were trying to do, but Moeka crumbled. (It was also 2 months after Mion became GM).

Her statement was tone-deaf and denialist (expecting idols to abide by a love ban isn't just a "misunderstanding" when Naachan herself has preached it, and it's what makes the idol system work), but I do think it's unfair to judge her for not standing up for other girls.

For sure it sucks, and AKB won't be the same without Naachan, nor Naachan the same without AKB.

But I think graduation was the best decision for both AKB and Naachan's future. If she'd gone through with the "there's no real love ban" excuse it would have been a complete about face from all the seriousness and hard work she'd put into the group over the years. She would still be a member but her integrity would be gone, she'd have completely abandoned everything she stood for. Instead, although she stumbled she did not fall. In time she will be able to walk with head held high again, and, I hope, somehow find a way to perform alongside Yuiri even after graduation.

As for AKB, you may not understand the love ban, or you may think you understand it and hate it, but the group, especially the new and the middling-to-less popular members, need it. Wholesale abandoning it, unless it was done in an extremely delicate and careful fashion (DH is incapable of this), would absolutely destroy the group. Naachan could have survived without it, but if she continued in the group it would crush those around her.

Hm. So a girl "spontaneously" graduating after she got bunshun'ed and talking about the loss of trust between her and her fans ...... thats a pretty clear indication to me that there is a love ban. Poor Mion can stop wondering.
