Perfume is releasing a new single on November 2 (Glitter is a B-side for that single) and also a new album on November 30 called "JPN"!

They have also announced an arena tour on January next year, and they are doing a dance contest for people to make up a dance for the chorus of GLITTER

Here's the sample video, you're supposed to do the dance and then make up a choreography for the other half of the chorus

Perfume ranks on SPIN magazine’s ‘20 Best Pop Albums of 2011′
by asphodel on December 23, 2011 at 1:47 am
    [IMG]
American music magazine ‘SPIN‘ has just revealed its list of the top 20 pop albums of 2011!

SPIN’s 20 Best Pop Albums of 2011‘ considers and evaluates pop albums from all over the world, and Japan’s beloved electropop trio secured #14 with their latest work, ‘JPN‘.

    The writer explains:

Just as shiny, but not remotely as nuanced, as the art-hop robo-bop bouillabaisse popping off in neighboring Korea, Japanese pop trio Perfume still strike hard thanks to a monolithic, overblown maximalism. Third albumJPN is a neon-blinking wash of clinical synths and utopian melodies — perfectly punk in both the Daft and pop senses — a near-android gush of voices adrift in the ether and AutoTune so clinical that you could eat off of it. (CHRISTOPHER R. WEINGARTEN)

The magazine has also listed Shoujo Jidai’s first full-length album, ‘Girls’ Generation‘, as well as 2NE1’s Korean second mini-album in 18th and 6th place, respectively.

    Congratulations!

I got JPN... what a insult to fans. There's only 3 new songs. THREE. I've come to expect that fans will get screwed over by singles being included on albums; but this had all the b-sides, too. And out of the 5 new tracks, one was an opening and another was... well, nothing. So we only got THREE new songs.

I've been buying Perfume singles since before they went major, but this has really, really put me off ever buying their singles again.

^I thought it had 4 new songs? Toki no Hari, Kokoro no Sports, MY COLOR, Have a Stroll?

It's kind of a Best Of album, and even though I like it because I think of it like that, it's kind of a mess especially because there are 3 double A-side singles in this era (what was Spice anyway? We'll never now, but Glitter was in the album as well OTZ). It's a shame that they had to include 575 even though it's a freaking B-side, but at least I really like the album remixes of Laser Beam and Glitter.

I wonder what does their management think? Even the girls were displeased that it took so long to release an album and Nakata is obviously annoyed at how they quip his creative freedom :(

I'm actually a huge fan of Perfume. Even though their music heavily relies on autotune and computer editing, I still find their songs catchy. :D

But, is anyone going to buy their new album being released on 11th April 2012?

Here are some videos I've found. (Finally! Spring of Life PV has been released!)

Perfume's first single of 2013, Mirai no Museum (Museum of the Future), will be the theme song to the 2013 Doraemon movie.
A trailer for the movie featuring a small sample of the song can be viewed here

The single will be released in March and at this time no further details are known.

I've heard it being called electro pop or techno pop, but I don't really know that much about music genres, so take it with a grain of salt. You could try other Yasutaka Nakata produced artists like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu or if you're into more grown up stuff, MEG and Capsule are fantastic.

I've heard that Saori@destiny and RAM Rider are also pretty good.

I'm not so sure there's going to much of a queue for this one. It's all seated apart from a small standing section at the back. If you have a designated seat, as most people will, there's little point in queuing up at all other than for merc.

How long before the concert do you plan on queuing?

The concert will be after work for me so I will just leave work and head over there, so not very long.

@Fushizen na Girl - I do really hope you will be able to go!
I can't see it being a very long gig so your exams should be fine :)

If anyone else is around, please let us know!

Even if there's no point in queuing, we could just go a bit earlier to meet and whatnot. It's always nice to de-virtualize people, IMO. :^^;:

    ^^^ This.

I could leave work earlier if people would like to meet for dinner or just a general meet :)

As a bit of info... the Hammersmith/Eventim Apollo where the gig will be held can hold between 3.5 and 5k, dependent on seating or standing.
So there is the capacity for them to draw a lot of fans.
However, if they don't sell out many or most of those then it's going to look quite empty :/ it's a hell of a big place, was there last month.

Meeting in the queue or before it should be easy though :)
