I just can't replace my first oshimen in Nogi with other members. So, I keep the first place in 1st gen members list empty. Let it be that way forever.

2nd gen

It doesn't change too much. Junna is still my current oshimen, and Rena is my second favorite among the 2nd gen.

3rd gen
1. Ume (my new 3rd gen Oshimen)

My first 3rd gen oshimen was Kubo. However, Ume rise to the top suddenly. I don't know why. I just love her. Maybe, her mature, calm, and little bit sadistic character is the reason why she replaces Kubo as my 3rd gen Oshimen. I still love Kubo, though. However, now, it is different.

4th gen
1. Kakki, Rei (both of them are my 4th gen Oshimen)
2. other members.
Kakki replaced Rei as my 4th gen oshimen. However, lately, I fall again with Rei. So, they are now on the top list of my 4th gen favorite members. And, the "others" I put on second is different than the "other" I put on other gen. the other gens' "others" also consist of IDGAF members. However, the 4th gen "other" is not. I love the rest of these "other" members equally.

I fell in love with Yuminee for the first time. I love her asymmetrical haircut, sexy and mature gestures, and cool personality. But then, Yumi appeared in one of Nogi Doko's episodes. She sits with a bent back, and open legs, in short, not very Nogi-like. That was the moment I fell for her, then learned more about her personality, talents, and other things, which make me chose her as my Oshimen. As for Nene, I came to like here after her part on Valentine's Day segment with Yumi.

2nd gen

I fell in love with Rena when I saw her perform Futougou at Koujichuu studio. She was cool and mysterious. Then, she also has many talents. But, eventually, Junna was my 2nd gen Oshimen. I have no memory of when I fell for Junna. It just happened. And, supporting Junna was the most fun time for me as a Nogi fan. Because she is a forever-Under member, moreover got mostly on the back line, every achievement she had (stageplays, solo gravure, or interview) felt like a great happiness to me. And, I also love her sadistic, cool, and boyish personality.

3rd gen

Shiori is my first love of all 3rd gen. She also was my Oshimen for a long time before Minami took over. I don't remember when I first fell in love with Minami and chose her as Oshimen. But, I understand why I like her. She has this kind of mature and cool vibe. Most of my Oshimens has this kind of kyara, so I think I like member like that. Plus, she also is super beautiful. Lately, my love for her is growing much stronger than before. As for Renka, she is just super attractive and beautiful. I can say that she has the most beautiful face of all Nogi's members.

4th gen

Runa is weird, smart, witty, beautiful, and odd. Those are everything that I need to like a member. As for Yuna, she is just super cute. And, I love her nasal-voice singing style. Sakuchan...I think I appreciated her more lately. She is a hardworking member, a really talented model, and a good performer. As for my 4th gen first love, it was Seimiya Rei. She was in first place in my previous rank, but now she is just gone from the list. I think her bright and cheerful personality is not my preference. But, who knows? Maybe, she will return to my list in the future, especially with her change these days that make her look more mature.

5th gen

Since her introduction video release, Nagi become the member I like the most among 5kis. Mao once replaced her as my first place, after her "Ito" performance from Star Tanjou ep 2. But, it returned to what it used to be, Nagi is the first on the list. Terepan is weird and beautiful. And, I like the weird member, so that is the reason she is on the list. As for Aya and Aruno, I don't know, they are cute. Interestingly, I have no interest in Aruno's singing style. She is good, but I like Mao's singing style more. Aruno is just a weird and cute member that I really like.
Now, I wonder if one of the 5ki members will replace Nagi in the future. Previously, my first love in each generation always ends up as the second or lower and not my Oshimen. As for now, I don't think any 5ki member can surpass Nogi on my list.

I didn't expect that 5ki would totally invaded my top ranking. I find myself digging for their content everyday. I guess they came at the right time when my previous 2 oshimen (Maiyan and Momoko) have both left the group and I found myself just hanging there last year...Having said that, I have no ultimate oshimen between the 5ki as of now, I can't even decide who is the #1. It's interesting to see how they all grow next year.

I end up having at least 3 for each generation (incl 4.5 girls) and a third of it from 5th. The one I look forward to the most is Mao. Even surprised myself I like her this much. Then this cute, young and talented Aya. Excited for what they have in store for this coming new year.

 

Alright, so I'm admittedly a little bored and I love doing rankings, so I've decided to do a ranking of the Nogizaka46 members based on how much I like them variety-wise in the main shows (ex. Nogizaka Koujichuu, Nogizakatte Doko)

As a preface, I don't have enough Japanese mastery to watch unsubbed variety shows, which is why most of my variety show knowledge comes from the main shows. So some members may do better/worse in external shows and programs than the main show, but from my POV I simply don't have that contextual knowledge, which is why I'm limiting it to the main shows. I'm also excluding Gen 5 from the ranking because I haven't seen enough of them to make a judgment.

I decided to make this ranking focused on their variety show presence because I think it would make the most interesting topic, as if I were to do, say, "favorites/oshi ranking", that would be too arbitrary to generate any real discussion and would be less interesting overall IMO, whereas this criteria is more concrete and thus gives more points of discussion, so people can more easily reply to my ranking with their thoughts.

Overall with variety, I tend to value proactivity as my primary factor. I think this is because I like to see people who put a lot of effort into making a great show (I like to imagine myself in their shoes haha), so even if they "miss the mark" with their humor occasionally, I still like to see the effort. This means I also give less weight to idols who seem to benefit from being "unintentionally funny" or who have "iconic moments but may not necessarily be that proactive".

I can give explanations for my rankings if wanted, and this is my personal subjective opinion obviously.
