Liking Mariko, particularly as an idol, has nothing to do with her being right or wrong in this situation. You're free to like her all you want, but if she did cheat, then she was in the wrong, period. Cheating is bad regardless, but especially when you're married and have a kid. If Mariko cheated, then it's her fault for the marriage falling apart and her child having to deal with divorced parents for the rest of her life. This is not to be taken lightly. I agree we don't have to villainize Mariko, but it seems to me that because you like her, you think what she did isn't that bad, not for one moment considering her daughter, which is what actually matters in this situation. This isn't some Mariko vs. her husband thing. This is a very unfortunate private matter and a family trying to solve it, which shouldn't ever have been made public for us to see, tbh.

I agree divorce is very unfortunate, but plenty of children and parents are able to overcome it. someone else said that the husband is handling it well. if he recorded mariko without permission and then leaked it, i would not consider it well handled. but i don't know how the recording got out there.

If she did what she did then no one can exactly defend her just because one used to like her when she was an idol. In ken watabe case, if you aren't blind, you will know how much he was criticized & how much this affects his career. or if it's not enough evidence for u. We still have Masahiro case. To be clear I'm not defending Mariko. Cheating is wrong, and destructive, and hurtful. Faithfulness and trust are the foundation of healthy relationships. I just also find what little we've seen of her husband's behaviour reproachable. This should never have gone as public as it did, especially if he truly cares for his daughter as he claims in those audio clips.
