Mariko has been the reason why I followed AKB.
That fact will never change.

She taught me that even if you failed once, you can achieve great things if you persevere. And I have kept to that ever since. It made my life so much better after I kept failing easy opportunities that my friends had easily attained.

Even though I am reluctant to acknowledge and accept the graduation announcement, I know that she's not doing it for herself, but for the group, and for her juniors. A very noble sacrifice. She could have stayed on and not participate in the next Sousenkyo, but she chose the harder road. I respect her.

And so, I have to come to terms with her leaving this group.


You are more than an idol to me. You are a role model.
You helped Jurina when she was lost, you led the team, together with Takamina, and you brought back to life the competitiveness in the whole group.

^ ^ Hirajima is already graduated and she'll be in the single as a future girl so Mariko will be in it too I'm sure.

I had hoped that Mariko might stay with AKB48 until the 10th anniversary but she's so super-successful outside of AKB that she doesn't need to stay. My head tells me that its a good move for her but it still hurts that she's leaving.

I am saddened by Mariko's graduation announcement. I knew it would come someday but I didn't expect it to come so soon and for her departure to happen so suddenly.

Nevertheless I will cherish the days she has left in AKB and continue to follow her outside of AKB.
