Single STU48 4th [Mubō na Yume wa Sameru Koto ga nai] (2020/01/29)

I immediatly thought Last Idol whe I saw the first pics announcing the Line Live today.
And the MV confirms this, it has lots of similarities with the former 6th single.

It is choregraphed by Tsujimoto Tomohiko.

To me, I feel the choreography is lacking... depth, I guess. And the girls aren't very synchronized and the camerawork for the most part lingers a bit too long on each shot, so the non-synchronous dance really shows. But I really like the photo frame concept, the girls' expression (Yumirin's so cool!), the clean beach look and especially the last segment with the dark misty background (it just feels so dynamic! The whole MV should've had a similar dynamic-ness).

Fingers crossed for the coupling tracks, eh. Especially with us getting so few of them.

 

Feels like they're following the style created by sakamichi instead of creating their own, the song and coreo feels a bit forced, I still like it though. Since I saw the costume, I was hoping the song to be dancy but still have that acoustic/natural setouchi ambience. Thankfully we got another beautiful MV, that powerful sunset scene, goosebumps. Yumirin suits this kind of vibe.

 

The covers, as always, are beautiful! And of course the MV is beautiful as always too lol. According to the oricon article then they filmed all the beach scenes in Kagawa, and then the frame scenes on an olive garden in Okayama. I love how the beach scenes gradually goes from morning - noon - night. The choreograph is... weird, but Kaze wo Matsu also had a weird choreo (since same choreographer) so I'm not too put off by it.

I know that usually STU has a different sound, but I'm all for experimenting with different sounds! I mean look at AKB, SKE, NMB, etc. they never stick with just 1 particular styles. Being able to pull off different concepts is what I value highly lol. I think this song might be really popular if management promote it right.

About the dancing in the MV: they had like what? one day to practice the dance? Obviously it's gonna be messy lol. I thought we're already used to this by now with 48G. I will judge the dance when they start to perform this song.

Also, congratulations to my girl (Isogai Kanon!) for being the Center for the first time!! I'm still obviously salty that she isn't in the Senbatsu this time, but being a B-side Center is a nice compensation I would say.

 

I like it but I still prefer the last A-side over this.

This one looks artsy and pretentious enough to be a nogi or keyaki song. Then again, I guess its a good thing for others.

 

I have my friends translated the lyrics to me. The lyrics is actually really good (it's about how you should still continue to dream your even craziest dream and the impossible things are the things worth being your goals and stuff like that). Obviously it's artsy but nothing can beat how "academic" Kurayami's lyrics is lol.

 

To me it's a big improvement overall quality from the last A-side for sure

 

Actually i mixed things up, I was thinking of Kaze wo Matsu and I thought it was the 2nd single.

Daisuki na hito, as a song, was a bit forgettable, but having all members in it plus the boat make it special.

This new one though... not that its bad, just reminds me of sakamichi too much.
