Surprising no subbers picked up koujichu after a while. I guess Nogi downfall is true then..

They still sell more than almost any other musician in Japan. To put it so dramatically is inappropriate. Selling less than before isn't a 'downfall'. They still sell more in Japan than even world famous groups or singers.

as one of the "former" active subber, I have to tell you that the situation has changed (at least in my case)
the passion is gone, not much time to spare anymore, incidents here and there (personal or idol-related) and I've seen many AI translations around so I think things will be okay.
well if there is something that piques my interest, I will surely take that for the sake of fun, my fun only and nothing else

Interest in subbing culminated IMO around the height of the pandemic since most of us were stuck at home, had nothing to do and were on the Internet for several hours everyday. People then got some parts of their lives back and suddenly priorities kick in and we don't have as much time anymore. Most that were active then have likely moved on and have families now :^^;:

So I think the desire is still there, just not enough time. The "timing" alone for let's say a 20-minute show, takes up a ridiculous amount of time. Even if the show has original JP subtitles that have some sort of basic timing laid out - yeah you save up time because the transcriptions are also already there, but then you would still have to check the length and position of every line manually because you might be using a different raw, or lines might bleed out to the next scene, etc.

And then, those who can sub who can also allot the time may not even find it worthwhile anymore since AI is here. I haven't seen one myself and I don't know how it works tbh, but the results must be satisfactory since I also haven't seen complaints about them. My assumption is machine translation does its job and then the viewer can just adjust or connect the dots on their own.

The 6th gen will most likely get their own show, it will be very interesting to see if it will be taken up. I do sure hope it's not Star Tanjou format again though o_O

For Koujichuu, doesn't the official YT channel add English subs afterwards anyway?

I think everything on YouTube gets english subs EVENTUALLY. It might take a while but it get release in batches. Same for sakurazaka stuff on their YouTube channel.

The A.I. for Nogichuu are excellent. We've come a long way on this front. The A.I. that I'm seeing for SokoSaku from a year+ ago (I'm just catching up) are kinda meh, but they may be good at the present day.

I can agree with this. Between uni, personal life, prepping for a Japan trip, etc, it's a pain.

It would also help if stage48 didn't go down every 25 seconds...

Subtitles have slowed down for all three Sakamichi groups and it's really just personal lives taking priority first. <3

Why actually is it down every 25 seconds? Can we do something against it?

I don't know what Mr.4K6 is using for those subs, but they are pretty incredible. It's definitely not the open source whisper model out there.

I'm making my way through the episodes, trying to catch up, and Yoda's graduation one is just so fun! Really fits her personality.

Looks like the official Youtube site had another dump of English subtitles. They're up to #503 from the beginning of March now. Here's the playlist- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-tVKL3zVywavzveUa688lwEMfRNajMpi

FYI the last non-AI sub on here is 496.

EDIT: Note that it does look like 500-503 will not match the raws that are out there on various sites. the YT videos are starting to get extra long.

One thing I noticed about the episodes on YouTube, is that they remove a lot of the musical parts. So, if you're a first-time watcher and haven't watched the original Japanese aired version, you might be lost in the YT episode. As an example, there was Ikuta Erika-san's Kareoke Request from episodes 340 and 341. I understand it's copyrighted and there is nothing they can do about it.

But at least after that, the segments were left, just with cut audio. Examples being episode #417 & #418,

I stopped re-watching the NUC episodes on YouTube since #418, so I'm unsure how the newer ones are like.

They're still just as bad. Among the more recent eps, both the New Year's music parts and the music quiz have a ton of silent stretches. The music quiz eps especially are sort of pointless to watch there's so much audio missing. Best to use the raws.

Yeah, New Eve´s Episodes lost all the fun because of the copyright. I´m grateful that now NUC is available on youtube with subs but for music episodes it´s better to search for the raws and fansubs.

A small spot for Baitoru, a part-time job search app.

if the video does not show watch the video here
There are more in their youtube channel. If you search deep, Nogizaka has collaborated with them for years: there are videos of the first gen promoting it.
