I don't know what Mao as in Yamamoto Mao and Mita Mao means but it sounds like demon king (yes, Piccolo Daimao) and also Yagura sounds like a villainous name.

Hard to win against Mutou Tomu there, the name has near perfect design, sound, form, kanji, meaning all great.

It depends also from which aspect you're looking from, for instance from a Latin (or Romance as it's called sometimes) language (Portuguese, Spanish, Italian) Iriyama Anna sounds great, but the kanji is not impressive.

I really like Tashima Meru, because Meru comes from the french word La mer which means sea.

I also like Yokoyama Yui because there are so many "y" and Ida Reona because Ida is a first name in my country and means "hard worker" and Reona sounds beautiful.

...except...the kanji for her name is 武藤十夢 eh
...and her name is just Tom in English [much cuter in Japanese imho]
At least is pretty cool, it means "ten dreams"

中田ちさと Nakata Chisato is really fun to write in kanji/hiragana

MY NEW PICK [for coolest name in kanji]:

    達家真姫宝 Tatsuya Makiho
the kanji can be read as "Dragon House, True Princess Treasure"
or "True Princess Treasure of Dragon House"
ALSO her nickname, Tatsumaki, is literally "Tornado"
    YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Only problem with her name is...
...you try growing up with such a difficult to spell name GODDAMN

@CherryBonchan lol Makiho's name is pretty heavy. The clash between the meaning of her nickname and herself, I think, is very cute

I like the fact that 48G have/had members with rare surnames and names with rare surnames are the coolest because they're just... so rare.

Hidaritomo (左伴), Kawaei (川栄), Sashihara (指原), Kizaki (木﨑), Tatsuya (達家), Mukaichi (向井地), Moriyasu (森保), Koujina (神志那), Iwahana (岩花), Yamabe (山邊) are all rare according to this site. You can search by yourself by typing surname kanjis in the '名字(漢字)' field or see the compiled list here (not full member).

'Sashihara' for example, is 11,179th and only about 610 people have the surname nationwide according to the website.

that's a really low number, I have a pretty rare surname here in the Netherlands, but 217 on 18 million isn't nearly as low as 610 on 123 million
(my firstname lastname combination ... that's another story, 2985 males with my given name in the Netherlands (and most likely worldwide) .....

but as Brian said "you are all individuals!"
    crowd: "WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUALS!"
    B: "you are all different!"
    C: "WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT!"
    ....
    one guy: "I'm not!"

If talking about first names only, then many comes to mind, but if it's the whole name, I like Kato Rena and I don't even have any reason, just sounds cool.
