It seems like her goals aren't the same as Morning Musume's now, and she's leaving so both sides can get what they want. Most likely she knows some thing we don't about the future of MM/H!P and is making an intelligent decision.

According to a statement (can't remember where though), Gaki wanted to graduate with Ai but management told her to stay to bring the new members in.

This either means management have great faith in her leadership skills or no faith in Sayu's.

I don't care how bitchy it sounds, that's the way I'm seeing it play out. As you said, it's possible she knows something we don't, and if that story about her wanting to graduate with Ai-chan is true then my entire argument is invaild.

But to clarify, I'm not saying anyone who graduates is giving up. When Ai-chan was graduating I was in full support of her. She put a LOT of work in to Morning Musume and crawled her way to the top because of her talent and dedication. However, there wasn't really anywhere to go from there. She had "beaten the game" if you will, and it was her time to move on.

I, like a lot of people, had faith in Risa because she had been there with Aichan through out the whole thing. I didn't expect her to decide a couple months later that she was bored of Morning Musume and thought she could do better at acting, especially after Aichan who had spent all those years working hard as leader of Morning Musume trusted her to do a good job leading them. If she wanted to graduate, why wait until she's made leader?

However, if the story about her wanting to graduate with Aichan is true, then once again it's reinforced in my mind that UFA has absolutely no idea how to manage idols and is just bullshiting their way through this. More likely then not, they realized the big money to be earned with graduations (they milked Aichan fans for every last cent when she graduated with all the collectible "goods") and wanted to repeat the process with Risa.

BTW is it just me or are they all sporting the same look when they were in Morning Musume. I think time stopped on them its as if they didn't age at all. I really like to follow them intermittently.

So much has changed from the Ai-chan lead MoMusu I follow some years ago.

I think i'll try to channel my frustration to watching Dream Morning Musume at least I can now see Kusumi again.

Michishige Sayumi aims to be Morning Musume.’s next leader!

Morning Musume. member Michishige Sayumi attended a SANRIO event on February 14th in Aomi in Tokyo. The event commemorated the sale of goods for SANRIO character, Cinnamonroll.

This summer in August will be Morning Musume.’s nation-wide tour and before that, leader Niigaki Risa will be graduating from the group in May, so Sayumi feels that her time is now (to be leader) and really wants the position.

Just thinking about this again Sayumi being captain I can't stop laughing, I will love the crap out of the direction they will go with her in charge but I don't think managment has any faith in Sayumi so i doubt their will be anything too serious while she is in charge, all happy fun songs..........I think when Sayumi leaves I will be done with them sadly, But it is sad to see Gaki graduate now, she should've left with Ai, now she is leaving basically by herself I feel sad.
