  • Favorite color: Purple, white, black, pink
  • Favorite country: America
  • Favorite drink: Orange juice, iced tea, tapioca drink
  • Favorite facial feature: Dimples
  • Favorite food: Grapes, soft tofu soup, dumplings, gyudon, spicy food

  • Favorite numbers: 1, 12, 8
  • Favorite sports: Basketball, Tennis, Athletics
  • Future ambition: A singer who can perform at Osaka-jo Hall
  • Good friends with: Shimazaki Haruka (YuiParu), Kitahara Rie, Yamamoto Sayaka, Oba Mina, Nagao Mariya, Kawaei Rina, Iriyama Anna, Kizaki Yuria, Takahashi Juri, Kojima Mako
  • Leader of Light Music Club
  • She failed AKB48's 8th generation auditions and SKE48's 2nd generation auditions. She failed the SKE48 audition at the dance round, before the vocal round.
  • She was named "Yui" after the kanji "Yuu" (結), meaning "connect, bind together". Her parents expressed to her that her name means "what connects people together". She likes her own name.
  • She has a sister three years older than her named Yuka, who works as a magazine editor. She and her sister both have the kanji "Yu" (由) in their names.
  • She has a pet cat named Bisu and a pet cockatiel.
  • She grew up in the countryside and spent her time mostly outdoors. She loved exercise and often ran relays for her school.
  • In school her favorite subjects were physical education and music.
  • She became interested in the entertainment industry in elementary school because she was a fan of the all-girl band SPEED. Her favorite ember was Imai Eriko.
  • She began taking music lessons in elementary school with her older sister. At first she played the electone, but her teacher told her to play the drums at a recital in second grade. She continued playing drums ever since.
  • Though she had been a good student in elementary school, she was a poor student in middle school and high school. She received low grades and dedicated herself to club activities instead.
  • She was in the basketball club in middle school.
  • She began formal vocal training in her second year of middle school.
  • She attended Kyoto Prefectural Jonan Ryoso High School.
  • She took over 100 auditions for music groups in high school, but did not pass.
  • She was the vocalist in a high school light music (rock) band.
  • In high school she worked part-time jobs at a family restaurant called "Coco's" and at McDonalds.
  • She received her first cell phone in high school.
  • In high school a male student from her school was hit by a train and died. There were rumors that it was a suicide, but Yui believed it was not because she had heard the student talk about his future dreams to become a voice actor. The tragedy left a deep impression on her, and she decided from then on that she would never jokingly tell someone to die, and that she would live a life without regrets.
  • When she passed the AKB48 9th Generation audition she was made a Kenkyuusei candidate. There were 18 candidates, who needed to continue taking lessons and being evaluated before being made official Kenkyuusei. Yui still lived in Kyoto at the time, so she would go to school and work during the weekdays, then commute to Tokyo and take AKB48 lessons on weekends.
    • Because shinkansen bullet train fares were expensive, she took the overnight sleeper bus instead. The costs were still high, and she needed to borrow money from her parents to afford the trips to Tokyo.
  • The first 9th Generation members she spoke with were Oba Mina, Shimada Haruka, and Nagao Mariya.
  • She was the only AKB48 member to be from Kyoto Prefecture until Team 8's Ota Nao joined in 2014.
  • She speaks in general Kansai dialect rather than in Kyoto sub-dialect.
  • Her hometown is on the border between Kyoto and Nara Prefectures. Because of this Sashihara Rino nicknamed her "Nara".
  • Her nickname "Yuihan" was created by Sano Yuriko. She is also called "Yokoyama" by Sashihara Rino, Kitahara Rie, and Oya Shizuka. She likes to be called "Yui", "Yuihan", or "Yokoyan".
  • She says she is comfortable talking with other members and even senior members, but has trouble speaking in interviews or MC segments. She finds it difficult to organize her thoughts and put them into words when in front of a crowd.
  • She was able to limbo (bend backwards) under a 50cm high horizontal bar for a television competition.
  • She loves cats.
  • She has gone bungee jumping.
  • She is known to happily receive clothes from other members, even clothes that are not fashionable.
  • Her apartment is notoriously messy. She has tall stacks of newspapers and magazines around her house, but insists that it is only because her cats like it.
  • She likes J-POP and doesn't listen to much Western music.
  • During the 2011 Senbatsu Election she had an infamous hyperventilation attack after her name was announced. It was her first time ranking and she reached Senbatsu. She was so surprised that she began to hyperventilate, and it took her several minutes to compose herself for her speech.
  • She is well known for her role in Bimyo~ (Season 1) as "The Untrusting Senshi: Honmayan".
    • Her role became so well-known that several appearances of Honmayan can be seen in the PV versions for Gingham Check. It is also referenced in the AKB48 Satsujin Jiken Online Video and the video game AKB1/149 Renai Sousenkyo.
  • In 2013 she participated in the "AKB48 Challenge You Can" promotion for qualifications test prep company. She studied and took the exam for a pharmacy administration manager qualification. On June 16th, 2013 she received the test results. She opened the results at a handshake event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, and when she learned that she passed, her fans cheered with her.
  • She was part of the Chinese mobile game AKB48 Cherry Bay Blaze
  • On March 19th, 2020 she opened her YouTube channel "Yuihan Life".
