well for instance she's holding the damn phone. or maybe because she's actually the captain and not Yuiri? who knows. for all we know she might dethrone Sasshi and become AKB's next center/ace/captain/sasshi, and then she would be too big for AKB and forced into exile to JKT48. lol.

And even if she cared about which team did Miion get to, it's not like her opinion would matter anymore Miion was on her last days as Kenkyuusei when Yuuko endorsed her.

 

Personally, I've always seen the Yuko endorsing Mion as the hebirote center successor as bull; just a narrative for management to play on.

Of course, its just me.

I was joking, but what I more seriously mean is that it's a matter of perspective, especially with something as personal as idols. For me at least this shuffle will always be “the day Maeda and Kururun were promoted”, and the rest is incidental.

This person on IRC makes a pretty good point though — if we have as many team stage performances next year as we did this year, it makes almost zero difference what team a given member is in. I was assuming we will, what with packing the teams so much, but as has been observed, a lot of the eitos wouldn't really be able to come to the theater on weekdays, so… I don't know. Team affiliation certainly didn't matter that much in 2017.

 

That's all? What about putting almost all the promising members into Team A, making all the other teams lose their aces (well, except maybe Team 4, who at least still have Naachan)? And turning Team B into variety team, basically?


Anyways, some of my opinions on the teams (now that I've had some time to process the whole thing and think about it properly):

Team A has a lot of strong members now. I am curious to see who will be the center of the stages or perhaps they will distribute the center depending on the songs? They also got a lot of strong kenkyuusei and freshly promoted members.

Team K was always my favorite team and it still is, although I'm not happy about some changes (like breaking up Mogi & Mion). Komiharu and Kojimako seem kind of strange choices considering the team's image, but I do feel they could fit well with the existing members. I'm really happy about Orin being in the same team as Tomu and I also think Yasuda Kana is a good match for this team.

Not a big fan of new Team B. It was already my least favorite team to begin with, but I like it even less now. The only members I follow in there are Yukirin and Saho. And the image of the team has completely changed from what old Team B's image was, no more cute idols, more variety idols.

Team 4 has a lot of good members (Naachan, Yuiri, Sayaya, Macharin, etc.) so I have high hopes for them. They also good some really good new members (Yamauchi Mizuki and Inagaki Kaori are 2 of my 4 favorite 16th gen members, and Taya Misaki and Asai Nanami also seem like strong performers). I feel like this team might not be at its strongest right now, but they have a lot of up-and-coming members so I feel like in a few months or a year, they can become a very strong team.

I didn't really follow Team 8 much before but I guess the members being in the usual 4 teams now will make me pay more attention to them. I guess maybe this was the management's plan anyways?

Can you elaborate the relation between having a kennin in A,K,B,4 and living in distant prefecture? As if being in Team A has more economical merit than being in Team 4.

Unless you're implying that they better be transfered to nearest SG. Yes, that's less random, and there will be no more AKB48 Team 8.

HKT need her more than AKB anyway, and she is still management's top priority for 48G along with Jurina.

For now, management's focus is fixing the mess at AKB.

By the way, if Team B image is cute idols, then what is Team 4 image? Proving grounds for young members? At least that is Ori 4 are for, but I think with the old members left it no longer serve its purpose. Most of them already in AKB for 4 years or more anyway.

Maybe that consideration makes it necessary to create a new image. And variety idol is one option. But...why B .

I guess with Mayu leaving and who knows when Yuki will follow, B is one with the weakest image. Oh well. Better start paying attention to some gen 16

 

Yes. Now I'm curious about management's priority in locating certain members to a certain team. If the data showed an even proportion of members who live nearby, then it is clear the management prioritize efficiency. But if not, it's obvious that they're prioritizing talents and image (like: great dancers belong to Team K, etc). Either way, that's not that random though

Each idea has its own 'calculation', whether by numbers or just a qualitative calculation

 

I always sees Team 4 as a Rookie team. and it seem that they will stick with that image.
