Just additional info, if it isn't clear by the member list, they'll be performing Moto Kare desu. It's been a while since they performed that, I'm pretty excited to see it! Also Aichan is something like super under for senbatsu member now? Reminds me of Moeno.
Saying Vernal has nothing to do with AKB is the same is saying Yoshimoto doesn't own NMB, which is completely non sense. DH is fully owned by Vernal. Also, likely, Vernal holds the wallet. Aki-p started this Majisuka series. Not including him is rude. Besides, he is a big name as playwright, it will be easier to raise fund and book TV time slot with his name.
From a biologist / scientific view, this is a wobbly reasoning. Small / underdevelopped vocal chords produce squeaky sounds. OK, you don't like Vernalossom, nor what they are doing (be reassured you aren't alone), but just like the known staff and the members, the company without whom you wouldn't venture into this place also desserve some respect. It has a full name, using a reductive moniker is rude.

I'm not gonna pretend I know all the intricacies of a Majisuka/Majimura/Cabasuka drama, but to me, it is 'another AKB48 drama'. Personally, I don't think we necessarily need another rendition or continuation of that, but I would just enjoy a drama in general. It would also be good exposure for some girls. Previous gens have produced some actresses, and I think it would've been tricky for them to get their foot out there without some training through AKB48 dramas. It would be the same if Showtitle weren't a daughter company of Yoshimoto. If you paid attention to my previous comment, that is exactly what I pointed out.
A new member for SURREAL, RERRY, and it's your wallet that will decide who she is. https://twitter.com/XRWorld_JP/status/1607315347048378371
I wonder if these things are actually AKB48 creating a vtuber subunit. Trying to rival Hololive & Vshoujo
Which one of those 20 members voice is the perfect fit for RERRY ? You can hear the candidates's voices and vote below: https://official.xrw.docomo.ne.jp/news/akb48surreal-avatarvote/ The choosen one, will not only incarnate RERRY in XR World and perform at the AKB48 SURREAL Theater from march 2023, but will get a new duet song with SURRY, and will perform a song as W center. Vote on XR World from 22/12/27 14h00 JST to 23/01/06 10h59 JST Candidates: Saito Haruna, Fukuoka Seina, Taguchi Manaka, Yamane Suzuha, Asai Nanami, Sato Minami, Suzuki Kurumi, Nagano Serika, Yamada Kyoka, Sakagawa Hiyuka, Ota Yuki, Kohama Kokone, Sato Airi, Hashimoto Eriko, Hatekeyama Nozomi, Hirata Yuki, Hotei Moka, Masai Mayuu, Mizushima Miyuu, Yamazaki Sora. You can notice that none of the entry reveal it's name, and all the entries are not in the same order as the girls list above. So it's less of a popularity contest, unless you know very well everyone's voice (I'm confident real wotas have no problems with that). (I bet CW song for AKB48 61st single.)
From 'AKB48, Saikin Kiita?' an MV for 'Machikado no Party' with Team K members on a sandy beach in Tottori Prefecture: if the video does not show watch the video here
AKB48 was 4th on Ms. Mojo's (spin off of watchmojo) Top 10 girl groups of the 2000s. if the video does not show watch the video here
Ow, whatever Mojo ... you never disappoint with dumb narration Atomic Kittten with ..... Eternal Flame ..... wait what? well, the AKB section wasn't as misinformed as you might expect ... and its start featured Miichan (playing a clip of aitakatta .... and then butchering the pronunciation, that's quite a feat btw) "shows no signs of slowing down" ... hmm, ok, if you say so ok, I was about to stop watching after AKB, but I was curious what ranked above them ... and now I'm nauseous, honourable mentions: Las Ketchup .... really???
They're not wrong! I was only 3 when it came out, but it was popular for ages, I still know all the lyrics even though I didn't speak any English back then. However, I'd probably rank SNSD higher than them AKB48 was more successful in the 2010s, so I'm surprised they're higher than some of these considering it's a 2000's list. And then Girls Aloud...? I didn't know them until I came to the UK and looking at their certifications on the charts, it seems they actually weren't really known/popular outside of the UK + Ireland. If they rank them (especially that high) they should've also included No Angels from Germany lol ("the nation's girl group" back in the day). Monrose was also another German girl group, and while they were also only known locally really, but their most successful single "Hot Summer" was even covered by K-Pop group f(x): Original: if the video does not show watch the video here f(x) version: if the video does not show watch the video here They also mentioned Hebirote as one of AKB48's hits, but that was (like I said) 2010s, 2011 to be precise. They could've mentioned RIVER, which was 2009 and the song that pushed their popularity for the first time for real.
imagine off-topicing an akb thread with kpop talk (which here should probably be called 'welping'), but i never imagined i'd hear some song from germany's next top model (no i didn't watch it of my own volition if you're wondering) become a kpop classic. i'm pretty sure the only reason anyone heard the monrose version at the time was because it was used on germany's next top model. (and fwiw i wouldn't even remember the monrose version existed if it weren't for the f(x) version). a lot of kpop songs are produced by (the especially scandinavian) "hit factories" that shop their tunes worldwide. iirc from my snsd days, what became "hoot" was offered to the likes of bwitney spears and "run, devil, run" was recorded by kesha or $omething. (did you know hot summer was demoed by SNSD as well?)
My point was that Eternal Flame was originally a hit by The Bangles ..... and yeah, I'm that old I had heard of Girls Aloud ... but that's about it, those German groups never made it to the Dutch airwaves as far as I'm aware
Jpop boy band Panda Dragon have made a cover dance MV of 'Iiwake Maybe': if the video does not show watch the video here
Only JKT48 among 48 groups even all Akimoto Yasushi groups that revealed their Spotify Wrapped of this year It's almost 2023 but most Jpop idol groups still don't consider the importance of digital music distributions like Spotify Even on Spotify, AKB48 is less popular than Kessoku Band from Bocchi The Rock
Annual end-of-the-year AKB48 theater clean up! This year's members: https://twitter.com/ki_cyaco48/status/1608782972039356416 https://twitter.com/177__shimo719/status/1608783382468788224 https://twitter.com/IckwMnm0826/status/1608779567321481217 Can't really confidently recognize 100% all of them with the masks, but I can see Senatan, Yuzupi, Hinana, Manami, Seichan, Kiichan, and Haachan. Help me identifying the others? ! Ranchan is there too, thanks @bonjourmarlene for pointing out! EDIT: all of them, thanks @wlerin ! I thought Sakipon still has the blonde style, and Satomina was busy with the her musical stage so it didn't cross my mind haha. Props to all the girls! Where are the eito girls, @Aka ?
