To say it all, it's been since last year that rumors have been floating about a tag-team production between Akimoto and Darren Bousman. More informations and "evidences" here: http://akb48nensensou.net/archives/48585985.html
I too am new (less than one year, since I saw a clip from Durian Shounen on the Taiwanese news on a local Chinese channel), but I have watched various histories and documentaries that say that when Team K was formed they were told by management that Team A was their rival. I assume it was to make the girls in Team K work harder to try and surpass Team A. Some of it must have stuck, at least for a while. If you watch the "date" that Yuko had with Takamina before Yuko's graduation, you will see that they had never gone out as just the two of them (that would be over 8 years, from 2006 to 2014). That doesn't mean they were rivals, but they were not personally close, as I interpret it. And of course Acchan and Yuko battled for number 1 for years.
I think they're somewhat better this year, especially the NMB48 ones which IMO had rather too much Photoshopping done on them last year. However I personally think that they should follow the method used for the profile photos for Keyakizaka46, it looks like they were taken in daylight and have had seemingly minimal alterations: http://stage48.net/wiki/index.php/Kanji_Keyakizaka46
Just arrived in tokyo Anyone have any suggestions on AKB stuff I could check out?? I also wanted to check out IWA but im not even sure about the prices or anything lol
You're not the only one. They're all overly airbrushed compared to earlier years. Most of them are teenage girls and it's hard to believe none of them have any spots or blemishes. And in terms of general photoshop failures, thoughts just go straight to Fujita Nana's 2013 photo...
There is an IWA thread here... Found it. http://stage48.net/forum/index.php?threads/has-anyone-been-to-yakiniku-iwa.8072/ my impression is that it is expensive but worth it, plus you might meet member or ex.

Yep, took me a bit to find it but it's kinda far from where i'm staying. I airbnb'd a place in shibuya so it might be a hassle to get there, plus i'm with friends (who don't like AKB at all) so they might not wanna go that far lol But I literally just came back from an Akihabara trip and saw the AKB stuff there The whole thing was soo surreal since this is my first time in Japan. I didn't go in the cafe but I looked in the store, its kinda small but has keychains and fans you can buy there. I took a peak in the show room where the members appear when I went there around 9. There were still people in there so I think they were just starting but obviously I wasn't allowed in Then I tried going to the actual AKB theatre, which is literally filled with AKB posters going all the way up the escalators but it was closed off. There was a sign saying something about only being open certain times or there was a performance going on... not too sure but it was highly restricted unfortunately.... I tried taking pics but the worker there told me I couldn't, I got a few inside tho I'll put them up soon. I'll try again tmrw lol Anything else I should try doing there?
I'm pretty sure those stats are correct. AKB's popularity isn't as high anymore as people like to believe, especially due to Atsuko and Yuko leaving.
IWA? It is 9 minutes away from Shibuya on the Yamanote Line. Not far at all. Takes almost three times as long to get to Akiba from Shibuya. Anyway, there is comparable Yakiniku around Tokyo that isn't as expensive. You are paying for the chance to see Ucchi (or Micha).
Yeah I messed up I looked on google maps and it was the an hour walk, I didn't check how to get there by transit And yeah we already saw so many places around Shibuya that are pretty cheap for KBBQ, tbh I just think it'll make my time there so much better knowing that an AKB member opened it...If I see Mayumi i'll cry I swear. Does she know english at all?? And btw, maid cafes are so surreal lol
