Interesting... I've discovered that Matsuo has just joined on loan the Belgian football club KVC Westerlo situated about 50km south-east of Antwerp in the north of the country. The only English language report I can find is a short one from Kyodo News:

However unsurprisingly there's rather more about his move to Belgium in local newspapers in the Dutch language which is spoken in the northern part of the country. I can read some Dutch and as I was browsing through them online I found this article on the site of 'Het Nieuwsblad':

In the last two paragraphs Yuka is mentioned (Google translation):

When Westerlo was negotiating with Urawa Red Diamonds and Matsuo, photos of the footballer suddenly appeared in the Japanese tabloid press captured by the local paparazzi. Has Westerlo brought in a player with a debauched life? Not at all. Matsuo is known for being sincere and distinguished, like most of his compatriots.

The reason for the photos? Matsuo was spotted alongside 23-year-old Yuka Ogino, a Japanese singer, model and actress. For six years she was part of the popular girl group NGT48, a group formed through TV programs based on preselections. Ogino was described in it as 'Cinderella of the election'. She will make her film debut in 2023.

'Neo Tokyo' has published an English language article which is to some extent based on the piece from 'Bunshun':

Bunshun is reporting that former NGT48 member Ogino Yuka is staying at the home of soccer player Matsuo Yusuke

The article with photos show how they spotted a woman at an upscale residential area in Tokyo. The woman is former NGT48 member Ogino Yuka (23). The next time Ogino showed up was around 20:00, four hours later, when she came out of the apartment while chatting with a handsome man. Her happy expression is transmitted through the mask. The two got into a taxi with a pick-up mark and headed for the night town.

The man is Matsuo Yusuke (25). He withdrew from the Urawa Reds training camp on January 20, and has been active as an ace in the team with the number 11 jersey.

Originally a player from Urawa Reds Youth, after graduating from Sendai University, he joined Yokohama FC before joining Urawa Reds in the 2022 season. He scored 11 goals in the 2018 season. He has indicated his intention to transfer to an overseas club from this season, and is regarded as the “future Japanese national team”.

Ogino and Urawa Reds have a deep connection. Ogino was active in Niigata, but she is originally from Saitama Prefecture, home of Urawa Reds. In 2021, she was appointed as the “attractive publicity ambassador to create the future of Koshigaya”. Her family has been Urawa Reds fans for a long time, and Ogino himself posted a picture of herself watching a match on Instagram.

According to Bunshun, Ogino went to England in the beginning of January and when she arrived, she went to Matsuo’s home immediately. At night, the two went to a high-end yakiniku restaurant in Aoyama and then headed back to Matsuo’s apartment again. The reporters then saw Matsuo leaving to the team’s camp at 11 and then saw Ogino, using the key to Matsuo’s apartment to enter the garbage disposal area to throw out garbage.

Bunshun then asked if the relationship is true and the Urawa Reds said they will not answer and Ogino has not replied back to Bunshun.

Ogino was a member of NGT48, an AKB48-affiliated group formed in 2015, and the vice-captain of Team NIII. She was a central member of NGT48’s title song and coupling song, but she graduated from the group in November 2021.

She also left Horipro, which she belonged to in May last year. She is currently working as a freelancer, and this year she is scheduled to star in a movie for the first time in “Suteki ni Gyoza Do!?”

Speaking of Ogino, she is also a person who suddenly became famous after the “AKB48 General Election”. In the preliminary results of the “AKB48 49th Single Senbatsu General Election” held in 2017, Ogino, who was still unknown at the time, won first place, beating out prominent members such as Rino Sashihara and Mayu Watanabe, and caused a great deal of attention.

Ogino failed five auditions for AKB. Even so, Ogino, who didn’t give up on his dream, was selected by NGT48 at the ‘2nd AKB48 Group Draft Meeting’. After joining, she made great strides in the wake of the general election. In 2017 and 2018, she was ranked 1st in the preliminary results in a row, and in the final rankings of 5th and 4th, she made a name for herself as the “Cinderella girl of the general election”.

However, Ogino’s life as an idol has not been smooth sailing. The “NGT incident” that occurred at the end of 2018 was a turning point. Ogino was accused of bullying member Yamaguchi Maho, and she was flooded with slander. In the end, there was a threat of murder against Ogino, and it developed into a riot with arrests. Ogino talks about her feelings at that time in an interview. “So many things happened at once that I thought, ‘I want to end my life’ more than once or twice. Even now, I’m facing the difficulty of proving my innocence”.
