The video in this X/twitter link shows Karin with the two main stars of her Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna 作りたい女と食べたい女 ("The Woman who likes to Cook and the Woman Who Likes to Eat") drama.

The "woman who likes to cook" ("Nomoto Yuki", played by Higa Manami 比嘉愛未) pulls out a report about Karin from a staff member in the art department, reporting that she is afraid of static electricity, so when things are passed to her by some staff member, Karin always touches their arm first to release any possible static. Higa-san says this is cute, even flirtatious. (This may be a reference to Karin's last drama, "What's Wrong with Flirting?" Azatokute Nani ga Warui no?) Karin denies the flirtatiousness, but agrees that she does it. The "woman who likes to eat" ("Kasuga Totoko", played by Nishino Emi 西野恵未) says Karin first taps your arm a few times, then embraces you. And they all laugh.

The show is a somewhat serious yuri drama about three women who are neighbours in the same apartment building. Karin is younger, and the newest resident. She doesn't really like eating, and has a strong phobia about eating with other people, shown to be the result of being pushed hard to eat at home and at school.

Chinese commenters on Bilibili were most impressed with an episode in which Yuki and an older co-worker watch a yuri film on the Internet together -- each at home alone with a nice meal and wine/beer. The other woman talks about being an asexual Lesbian, and says there are various types of Lesbians. This idea got a lot of positive reaction from commenters. One commenter was excited to see for the first time a show mentioning "asexual love" for another woman.

This is season two of Tsukuritai Onna. It began at episode 12, is now up to about episode 24, and will end with episode 32. Episodes run for 15 minutes Mon-Thurs at 10:45pm on NHK.

Here's a clip from Karin's other current drama, Ao Haru Ride 2. She is a new student in a school, summoning up the courage to ask if she can walk home with a couple of classmates. The poster talks about "Karin's wonderful smile".

I wonder how Karin's acting career will proceed. Her attractiveness, interesting manner, and growing acting ability seem to me enough to make an acting future possible. Will she get a role in a larger drama? Will the need to schedule around dramas affect whether or not she centres a Sakurazaka release? I'm eager to see her at centre between Airi and Shii-chan; or with Ten, flanking a 3gen (Shii-chan? Airi? Miu?).

 

Womanhood is here. And we are the lucky Sakamichi group to have her. Breathtaking!

Leading role! I'm so happy for Karin. From shy girl who cried during her Keyakitte introduction, to bonafide actress. Naze Koi surprised me (as I'm sure others as well), but Guzen No Kotae confirmed that she had "it".

Risa must be proud.

It was in April 2019, almost 5 years ago. Both eps, 175 and 176, were fascinating. Ep176 showed hidden-camera videos of the newly-joined 2gens -- the core of current Sakurazaka -- in their home room, interacting. The psychologist analyzed their behaviour and said this about the 17-year-old Karin:
"She's strong against pressure. There's a high probability that in the future she could succeed as something like an actress."

Rin looked tired and even more emotionless than usual on Music Station on Friday, though she (and everyone else) performed well as usual, but then she missed weekend Meet & Greet due to illness. Fan comments wish her well and tell her to look after herself.

There was a bit of excitement last weekend over Karin having some blonde underlayer colour ("inner colour") in her hair. Even to the point of it trending on Yahoo. But no photos. Here are three "artists' impressions":

In the video in the X link from @Jiyorin posted by @dinbradpitt above, the subject is whether Karin looks at Shii-chan more or at Airi more.

Shii-chan admits that her and Karin's eyes meet a lot. Karin says she does often look at Shii-chan, and at Airi. Then she says "I guess it's creepy, eh."

And Shii and Airi both laugh.

Karin goes on: "I'll stop." But you get the feeling she doesn't really intend to.

I suddenly get the feeling -- or perhaps the hope -- that we may soon see Karin at centre between Airi and Shii-chan.
