AKB48 Question & Answer

There are special schools that cater to Idols and those in show buiness from what I heard. esp., if the girls hometown is far from Tokyo (or where ever they work). Also, some of them may get home schooled.

There really is a wide variety of responses in regards for schooling.

Some members do continue on their schooling and graduate. Others end up quitting.

Some have no choice but to quit as some high schools don't allow for their students to be the entertainment industry.

And then there are those who take correspondence classes.

 

Don't know if this is the same case for Japanese idols, but I remember reading on allkpop once that idols are "phantom students". Their attendance is pretty infrequent and irregular according to what I read on allkpop. Some people also think its unfair that schools take in idols, because they seldom come, and normal students who deserve that spot don't get it.

 

I guess that's the problem with most of the athletes, singers, actors,...their professional engagements often affect their school life...

 

Reading this, I imagine that entertainment industry especially idol business is really great gamble in life. I do not know about others but I am pretty much worried about those who end up quitting high school and yet are not really successful.

With that being said, is there any members who end up quitting school?

 

Mori Ayaka chose her studies, she quit NMB for her studies. I know Sunmi and Sohee of Wonder Girls dropped out of high school. (Sunmi quit for her studies at the end though.) It's best if they can balance studies and their careers, but if they can't I'll rather they quit their career than drop school.

 

I only know Kojiharu from AKB. any other girls?

 

I recently read this on Wikipedia: Her nickname "Mayuyu" was chosen by Rumi Yonezawa.

How did that happen? Made me wonder where they get their nicknames. Especially Mayuyu, Yukirin, Lovetan, and Harugon. If there is a site explaining this, please direct me to the right place.

What is the AKB48 store(The one in the same building as their theater) like? Is it a normal store where you can just pick up the merchandise off the counter and pay for it or is there some weird sketchy way to buy stuff? I really want to buy K6 and maybe a poster and some small stuff.
