Hoshimina back in senbatsu is a little bit too early, maybe 11th or 12th single would've been better, she's not doing that well compared to the last time either, so i don't know why they put her in again, hmmm

Personally i like her but I felt she should come back after she improves too, from what she say in yesterday's episode, hope she will stick to it and be more active in her activities (blogs, TV shows, and whatnots)

Some data have been posted on Baidu! Interesting stuffs, especially if you love data lol. Maiyan almost dominated them all (except for Google's YouTube search where Ikuchan is first.) Is there anything that you folks find interesting? I found Ashu's rather high stat a bit surprising (delightedly so). I also found the ranking for Maimai, Reika, & Wakasama interesting as well. Maimai dominates among the three, while Wakasama lags quite a bit most of the time surprisingly. Their order never changes as well. Different data might have different implications too, would be interesting to hear thoughts on them!

Since these were posted on Baidu, some of the kanji might be simplified. I will type down English names to the right.

Wow, Maiyan is leading some of those statistics by a wide margin. I also remember her being ranked in the top ten of Celebrity face plastic surgery requests. She is definitely the face of Nogizaka46 to the general public which is why she doesn't need to be 'center' as well. Poor Saito Chiharu she scored the lowest out of 1st generation in all fields, and she's the only 1st gen to have never appeared in senbatsu now. Keep going Chiharu! It can only go up from here!

 

Maiyan is the "real" queen of Nogizaka. Even though, she isn't no.1 in HS anymore, but her popularity especially among general public is still way above other members. Maiyan isn't the center of Nogi, but i fell that she's still the ace and face of Nogizaka. Nogizaka can rotating center, but who's the ace? Maiyan! I saw on internet, some Maiyan fans were upset because Naachan becoming center for 2 times in a row. I think that putting Maiyan in #2 position is good for Nogizaka. Because Maiyan can share spotlight with the center.It's bad for a group to rely on too much to one member. With success of Kizuitara Kataomoi, I think management want to Naachan to gain more popularity. Basically, Maiyan and Naachan are my fav members, I'd love to see them as the #1 and #2 of Nogizaka..Hehehe..

I would have to disagree about Naachan being pushed. If you look at her HS data, she was always popular. Since Oide she consistently is in the top 5 HS sales. Although I would not consider HS sales as the true litmus test for popularity because let's be real, Manattan's HS is saiko. Also, Manattan was dropped at the front from the start and rightly pushed back. The above Baidu data posted by rust is a better measuring stick concerning popularity.

I feel Naachan legitimately worked her way to the front. She has great fashion sense and a pretty good artist. Many of my friends pick her as their oshi because she has that girl next door aura and feel she would make a great girlfriend. IME, most Japanese are really receptive to Maiyan, Naachan, and Nanamin (sometimes Ringo). Now do I see Naachan centering again for the 10th single? Yes, although I feel she will get a lot of anti. The candidate I feel worthy of center is Nanamin. Honestly, I thought Nanamin would center before Naachan. I'm not gonna hate on Naachan passing Nanamin because I feel she is legit.

The member I believe that is consistently pushed is HoshiMina!!!!!! I'm a little annoyed she's back in senbatsu so soon while you have Chiichan still waiting for a shot since conception. For the Minami fans that would like to persuade me by all means to do. I really don't see much from her other than looking mecha kawaii.

Really? I can totally see them giving the center to Ikuta to welcome her back.

I suppose that looking at the sales is very obvious that they'd give the center again to Nanase. But, tbh, I don't see them growing much more sales-wise. Maybe they'd stablish at 500k, which is already selling more than 3 of the 4 48 groups... but to reach more, they need more memberd and sell more HS. 3rd gen coming in soon? lol

Still, these past three singles have been so exciting in terms of songs, senbatsu and all, that I wish they'd keep changing the formula. There are so many girls who'd be great as center like Nanamin or Manatsu... and the 2nd gen really needs more representation in the group. The most popular girls in the 1st gen are hitting 20, so it's time to prepare the road for the future. Yamazaki Rena and Ito Junna should co-center a single too. They're some of the youngest in the 2nd gen and both are gorgeous as hell.

 

Putting Ikuchan at center would be a nice thing to do but I feel it wouldn't be right after a long absence. I certainly would like to see her center but not when she returns. It probably would be more appropriate if she gets put at the front replacing Matsui Rena (kennin ending of course).

To be honest, I don't think Kizuitara was popular due to Naachan center. I believe the song writing and production was second to none. It certainly is my favorite A-side to date. I do hope this summer song will be even better. 500K first week sales is definitely attainable given their track record and increase in popularity. Speaking of summer...

Regarding your thoughts on Naachan, sry but I have to beg to differ.
First off I think we need to define what constitute a push. For this I'll just quote myself from earlier,

Based on this definition, I don't think its fair to say Naachan was pushed. In the early days of Ngzk, Naachan nvr rly received particular more resources than usual, this despite a steady increases in her HS results & comment avgs. I would say maybe she received stable treatment when promoted to fukujin during 3rd single, but after that up till recently one can argue she was shafted.

I can't say I'm familiar with Yuihan's position within the 48 groups, but from my limited understanding I don't think the two are comparable. For example, maybe Yuihan does not have kami 7 popularity, but Naachan's popularity is arguably among the top, & should be absolutely no worst then sixth within Ngzk imo. I base this not only on her HS results (which is the top), but also her excellent search ranking & insanely high blog comment avgs (twice as much as Maiyan!). If I have to give a specific number, I would guess Naachan to be solidly 2nd (since the 6th single, Garuru too without much if any push.) The reason I don't think she's top despite outselling Maiyan in HS is because the handshake reports I read generally still gave Maiyan the longest lane. Naachan's is very long too, but Maiyan's still queen. This indicate to me the Maiyan have a broader kind of popularity (more fans, less intense in general tho) while Naachan have deeper fans (more engaged fans.) & the same is even more true for Manattan, hence despite her outselling Nanamin & Maiyan for example, the two are generally reported longer lanes. Another thing not comparable is that Naachan's a 1st gen, & Yuihan is a much later addition to 48 groups. All in all, I dunno will 48 fandom burst into spontaneous combustion if she's made centre there, but I can tell you when Naachan was made centre initially, there were little to no dissents.
