Event / Concert AKBG Universal Studios Japan Daily Concerts (07/21/2016-09/09/2016)

It was recently confirmed after their debut performance on June 2nd here with an english translation here.

An excerpt from the english translation is shown below:

"Now that USJ (as the park is also known) has taken care of fans of Japanese animation and video games, next come Japanese idols, as J-pop megagroup AKB48 will be giving concerts every single day in the park, starting in July.

16 members of AKB48 broke the news in a surprise appearance at USJ on June 2. After entertaining the crowd with renditions of hits including “Heavy Rotation,” “Aitakatta,” “Everyday, Katyusha,” and “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie,” the idols let the audience know that starting July 21 and September 9, select members of AKB48 and sister groups NMB48, HKT48, and NGT48 will be performing two or three times a day at USJ’s Stage 14 venue, for a total of 112 appearances. In addition, they’ll also be holding eight concerts in USJ’s Gramercy Park area, and during the period the customary music on the Hollywood Dream roller coaster will be replaced with AKB48 songs.

There is a surcharge to get into the concerts, although fans will consider it money well spent. A combination ticket that provides entrance to the park and the idol performance will cost 9,900 yen (US$90), a 2,500-premium over the 7,400 yen for a standard USJ ticket. Alternatively, USJ ticketholders can purchase passes to the Stage 14 concerts on the day they’re being held for 3,000 yen, when quantities allow (admission to the Gramercy Park concerts is only available to combo ticket buyers).

Advance tickets are expected to go on sale in mid-June through the Universal Studios Japan website."

I didn't know USJ was so pricey. But i do think there will be an audience. Theater is lottery, while those shows you only have to pay. But i don't know if they communicate the line up, it plays a lot.

I'm supportive of this collaboration. It gives some credit to AKB as something that can attract people to come to USJ.

 

I'd rather have no lineups.
If people see a name they don't recognise (most of them) they'd pass.

Now I wonder if we'll get AKB/NMB/HKT lineups or mashups of sll the groups under the USJ name lol

SKE48 is signed up with another theme park, AFAIK.

 

Nagashima Spa Land to be exact.

 

I think a lineup would be good, especially for people who would travel to visit USJ.
Like if an international fan were to book a vacation to Japan, it would make a difference planning wise if senbatsu members were performing or not.

 

Just to clear this up, it is correct that SKE48 has an exclusive contract with Nagashima Spa Land.

Aww, I was hoping for mixed lineups from all the groups.
I guess mixed lineups from the groups' teams is the next best thing lol

And yay Team 8 getting their own days!!

I suppose we won't get a bigass summer concert this year.
I kinda like it. They were overdoing it a bit.

Also, AKB performing 21, 22 and 23... 45th single release on the 24th?

would be in Osaka from Aug 31st till Sep 3rd , before flying back on Aug 4th. thinking which day should i try for. i guess Sep 3rd would be pretty crowded

Whole performance lasted about 50 minutes. No encore.

 

I'm here right now and I found the AKB theater but I didn't get any tickets for it. However, I took photos of the cafe and these (overpriced) ice cream floats





I found it crazy how all the cute girls were the only ones buying the AKB items. You'd expect the male wota to be the ones.

 

I would like to add that the ticket combo might be cheaper than 9900 yen, since when I went to USJ yesterday there was a summer sale going on and the normal ticket price was 5800 yen.
