Geinin! Movie Announced.

Waiting until clearer newspaper photos are released but lo and behold, we now have a movie based on a late-night variety. Questionable choice, but Yoshimoto has the resources, so might as well. I'd rather have a Geinin 2, but, I'm curious as to how it'll work out. Will we have an expanded cast? Are we gonna throw in Docking regulars like Koba, Tamuken and Jinnai to up the ante on the comedic side?

Yui also looks like Jo's replacement in the sequel. No specifics yet other than this however.

exciting times, though i'm not quite sure how it will translate to a movie, let alone a good movie.

I quite enjoyed Geinin though especially the stand up
part though at times it was hard to understand.. I'd have
to agree though, I would have more preferred a second season
to Geinin as opposed to a movie. Still pretty much looking
forward to it though. Thanks for the news.

So I'm guessing they'll be ditching the "variety" segments and make it all based off the "drama" parts of Geinin. This is really exciting. It'll either be awesome or terrible, but I prefer to think optimistically. Looking forward to seeing more of Sayanee and Nana's acting skills.

Now that you mention it, the lack of Gotou and Non-chan in the promo would make it seem like there wouldn't be any comedic segments. They'll still have manzai but with a more...dramatic approach? I don't think Geinin is really ever complete without Gotou (Or at least a tsukommi of his caliber, like Kosugi of BlaMayo) following up the girls. But with variety in the backseat, I can see how they wouldn't need him anymore.

Mixed feelings about though.

We have no release date on the movie, but sure.

The shooting is started this month..so, I guess, maybe it will be release in this mid-year..

It is also going to be released at the Okinawa Movie Festival.

Okinawa film festival will be held in March..wait, it means the movie will be released next month? Well..doesn't it kinda too fast??

Yui mentioned she finished filming yesterday. It's probably a long episode, like a special or a tanpatsu, probably in a single location like the school, so there might still be a second season later.

If they can write the lyrics of a PV a few hours before actually recording it, and have it finished in less than a day, why not?

Not sure what to expect, looks like no Ainyan, and wonder how they will replace Jo who gave it that fresh outlook to everything...

Milky wrote in her blog, she did Geinin Movie shooting last week in Yokohama. She was there for about 1 week. Now, i'm curious how the movie will be..and yeah, where's ainyan? mmmm...

I'm more curious about Keiichi, since they seem so eager to let her act. Ainyan I'm really disappointed in too, but this might be just a little repayment for Ripopo getting nothing in the original Geinin, while Keiichi, Airi, Fuuchan, Miru, Riichan and Akarin all got expanded guest roles. Hell, we even had Arisa there too for an episode.

But still no word about Gotou and Iwao. Why no FH I wonder.

FH wasn't mentioned to join in the movie. instead, kendo kobayashi will apppear

Koba is good compensation but this is definitely going to be a standalone story rather than the variety-esque show we saw in the original. It's gonna be a legitimate movie, I guess.

Koba is nice to have though, he works well and is a plus-plus comedian.Though, if he acts I don't know how much we'll see of the actual Koba. I'll bet you my bottom dollar we'll have some variation of 'Fuuchan is watching' though.

i am expecting it to be like a cheap b-movie though, which is why i'm curbing my excitement. excited as an nmb fan, but not excited if i was into cinema, lol.

according to that article everyone is expected to appear, just that the main characters are the mentioned 6.

I'm not expecting to be anything revolutionary, but Yoshimoto pumps out some good indie films with its comedians from time to time so it's not like we're watching Battlefield Earth or something.

Makes sense for them to release and promote NMB at this festival though. This is where Nagiichi was performed too. (Wow it's been a year since Nagiichi)
