Shiba = Shiba Koutarou (see a few posts above)
Office48 = Talent agency which some of the girls are on I think. Sae, Sayaka etc.

Please correct me if I am wrong ^^.

Talent Agency of DiVA (Sayaka, Sae, Yuka, Umechan) and Kobayashi Kana as well as some other people... Maachan used to be in office48, too, before graduating from AKB48.

    Re: THE AKB48 thread!

Horipro charity live streaming event just started: http://www.stickam.jp/profile/songforyou
Tomochin is scheduled to appear there to.

Edit: And of course Oshima Mai to.

Edit2: Both Mai and Tomochin performed 3 songs.
I'm not familiar with Oshima Mai songs, but Tomochin setlist was as follows:
    - Dear J
    - Wanna be now (Yes!! First time I saw it performed. I'd say very sexy dance with 2 female back dancers)
    - Fui Ni

Hopefully someone captured it and concert will surface somewhere.

[hehe] Good enough English to pass. Won't beat Tomo's most recent interview-length attempt, but this will suffice. At least we know Team A has some decent English-language skills, if ever so slight.

A little odd, but not too surprising, that they're speaking English in what is clearly a video aimed at HK tourists.

True. What surprised me is that they said 48 like English speakers do (that is, they didn't end it with -TO), so they are really improving their English...

I suppose perhaps that Aki-P and others maybe realise that they have good fanbases outside of Japan and because English is undestood in a lot of them perhpas they have been encouraged to get a bit better at it, just in case......

Perhaps that's true, but up to date it doesn't seem to me that they care that much for foreign fans (I hope time will prove I'm wrong).
Btw: I'm still waiting to know something about the Milano concert... :hmm:

    Re: THE AKB48 thread!

Well, aren't some of them casually studying it anyway during their free time? Acchan comes to mind...

Maybe, especially in regards to the West, but since foreign does include greater East Asia... considering they did establish a few official shops overseas and even a theater in SG...
Plus there's also the launch of the Super Enpou system (however effective it has been so far is another story, but at least it's there).

    Re: THE AKB48 thread!

Some girls blogged that they're studying English to improve so they're better at it.

Is management "truly and wholeheartedly" trying to reach out to fans internationally or merely trying to cash in on sales as their primary motive (which is obvious since it is the entertainment business)?? The JP economy is still relatively sluggish so why not go overseas for profit!!

It's funny (well, not really) considering that AKB48's English website is still rather pathetic, getting tickets to shows by foreigners are still a big hassle (as some people have reported on various on-line forums like this one) and the AKB shop does NOT sell their products internationally directly (as you'll need a buying service or some other JP online store for that)!

Management may have opened stores in the Asian (i.e. Shanghai, HK, Singapore, Taiwan, wherever...) but that's more Public Relations work than anything else!

For example, has anyone noticed that the Non-HK shops still have the HK products instead of their own shop's locally-branded merchandise :fp: and not much of the JP merchandise :^^;:

At least it's a "gesture" of management in expanding their franchise!

You'll also notice that it created havoc within their system...
Basically, all the AKB teams (except SDN) have basically MERGED members when it comes to AKB videos as it's NOT just AKB members!
    AKB now has Team 4!
    When will Team 8 debut?!
    HKT48 has been created!
    WTF is next :wtf:

    Is anyone else confused :yikes:

That said... I still root for my primary group, A-K-B (Still haven't learned all the girls names yet but at least can recognize them now :^^;: ). Let the other teams get their own videos and stages and whatever and leave the primary AKB group alone!

For me, there's a time when there's too much "48" in my "AKB."

Yes, that's what I meant, I don't know whether they are REALLY interested in foreign fans...or it's just a show
