Korean 6-member girl group IVE's first Japanese EP "WAVE" (released on May 31st) won first place in the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking (12th). Along with the release of "WAVE", street advertisements started to be posted mainly in Shibuya, Tokyo. In Shibuya Center Gai, which is crowded with young people and foreign tourists visiting Japan, all the flags on the street lights are IVE specifications, and only IVE music is broadcast as BGM. The IVE flag flutters on the main street from the entrance in front of the scramble crossing to Tsuruha Drug at the far end, and the street lights around the Udagawa police box that wraps around from there. Near this police box, a pop-up store of the Korean food brand "bibigo" is open for a limited time (until the 17th), and you can eat tteokbokki, gimbap, and mandu. There's a trend that I've noticed more with Asian idols than western celebrities where they were huge platforms + tiny shorts/skirts and film from a slightly lowered angle to make their legs look like they go on for days and I'm absolutely LOVING it. Can't wait for it to catch on over here.
