Just to add that I've used Livepocket in the past and it hasn't needed an app or SMS verification from a JP phone number but the latter will be required from 10/3 - this is a notice I received an alert to yesterday:
    https://t.livepocket.jp/notification/detail?id=85471802
    Received Tue, 29 Aug 2023 00:00

Mobile phone number verification to be mandatory from 3 October (Tuesday)

    Operated by LivePocket-Ticket-.
    Thank you for using LivePocket-Ticket-.

From Tuesday, 3 October 2023, LivePocket-Ticket- service will require mobile phone number authentication (SMS authentication).
Mobile phone number authentication (SMS authentication) will be required to use the LivePocket-Ticket- service from Tuesday, 3 October 2023.

Mobile phone number verification is for identification purposes,
The mobile phone number verification is an authentication function that uses SMS (messages) and phone guidance from the mobile phone to verify the identity of the user.
Mobile phone number verification is required in the member's information when purchasing tickets and receiving tickets at the distribution point.

You can currently activate the mobile phone number verification from the 'Account Settings' section of My Page.
Please complete the authentication as soon as possible.

If you are using a mobile phone with a contract in Japan, please use a mobile phone (smartphone) that starts with 070, 080 or 090.
One mobile phone number for authentication is required per person.
The same phone number cannot be used for multiple membership registrations.
*Authentication cannot be carried out using a landline phone.
The validity period of mobile phone number verification is one year from the completion of verification. After the expiry date, you will need to re-authenticate.

    <Account settings>.

    https://t.livepocket.jp/help/faq#c14

Thank you for your continued support of LivePocket-Ticket.
My guess is that any application made before then should be OK without having to authenticate.

    Who's Kyon?

Yep, uninstalled right after the announcement. I had to change my entire plans cause I bought tickets to go to the Ghibli theme park on the 15th, but I'm just going a day later now.

Applications are open in a few days so definitely gonna try my luck!

I've just been able to verify my UK phone number. There's 2 methods: text message or phone call. In either case, the user has to take action. You can click to send a text, and it will open your SMS feature with the authentication code, but that text didn't go through for me, presumably because the number didn't have a country code. I don't know which part to replace by +81, so that failed.

So I used the phone call option instead, I had to call an +81 number and an automatic voice prompted me in both Japanese and English to use the number pad instead. Once I entered the 4 digit code, the voice told me verification is complete and to stay on the line until this is reflected on the browser or refresh the browser (on my phone browser). I checked and it was verified & in that moment the call ended by itself. It now says my account is number verified

Ran-chan is doing another solo live event in April. Tickets for both slot 1 and 2 are available on livepocket again - the website requires mobile phone verification, but they accept foreign numbers (it will cost you money though to send a text to a JP phone number).

Event title: Kobayashi Ran Solo Event vol.2
    Date: April 27th, 2024

    Poster:
    GIoEY00bQAAFPd4.jpeg

Announcement: Twitter / Instagram Story (will disappear in 23 hours)

    Link for tickets: Slot 1 (13:30 JST) / Slot 2 (18:00)

This time, you can get better seats for ¥6,600 or regular seats for ¥5,000. Applications are open from March 21st until 27th, with winners being announced on March 28th. A second round of applications (probably FCFS?) will open on April 6th and seems to stay open until the event.
