Maeda Atsuko (Acchan) / 1st Generation

Wait until you watch Ikkukyu Deka. Totally different than her character in Utsubora. Acchan playing eccentric big sister who is also forensic specialist and babysitter is just hilarious. She played supporting but it is just as much screentime as other two. Every episode her clothes and hair completely different. Lot of people praise her performance on twitter. Sadly, there is no one subbing this drama so far

This was a really strange and mysterious drama, and even after watching the final episode, I had to think a lot about what actually happened, but I think I figured it out. I'd love to talk to others who have watched this show!

Mayumi Himura (Mai Fukagawa), Yukari Jinno (Atsuko Maeda), and Riko Kumazawa (Anna Ishii) all have different backgrounds and seem to have no connections between themselves. Due to a missing woman's case, the lives of these 3 women diverges into unexpected directions. Their hidden secrets are revealed and the truth behind the case is revealed.

Mayumi Himura is 32 years old and single. She works in the public relations department for a large clothing company. ayumi Himura experiences setbacks at her job and she now wants to get married to escape from work. Marriage isn't so easy for her now and she feels anxious. Mayumi Himura longs to experience ordinary happiness.

Yukari Jinno is a 34 year old housewife and her in-laws are a wealthy family. Her life seems comfortable, but she is always lonely. She doesn't have a child. Her husband treats her like a housemaid and she doesn't have anyone around that she can trust. Yukari Jinno also longs to experience ordinary happiness.

Riko Kumazawa is a 29 year old rookie detective who has recently begun to work in detective division. She longs to have ordinary happiness.

It really is constant! Acchan is so busy I hope she's enjoying herself and not working too hard!

 

I just finished watching Kashimashi Meshi!

Spoiler free review:

The drama isn't necessarily super exciting, so if you like a lot of drama, tension and action, this isn't the right drama for you. However, if you enjoy realistic themes of adulthood about breakups, loneliness, the hardships of growing up, working jobs you just sort of fell into rather than following your dream and/or not really having a dream, this drama is perfect.

Also, communal eating is suuuuch a major theme of the show, so I recommend watching this while you're eating or once you're done as this will make you super hungry!

I've previously commented on this already, but Acchan's facial expressions in this show are through the roof. She does so well at portraying a wounded woman who can't voice her own feelings because she feels guilty and shameful. The way she switches between crying and smiling to put on a brave face is astounding and hard to believe she's just acting. Hands down, Acchan is one of the best actors of this generation.
