TV / Radio Majisuka Gakuen 5 (2015/08/24 - 2015/10/27)

Majisuka Gakuen 5 (DVD Box / Blu-ray Box), the long awaited sequel to Majisuka Gakuen 4 (DVD Box / Blu-ray Box), will start august 24th, 2015.

The lead is Shimazaki Haruka, other top roles: Kodama Haruka, Yokoyama Yui, Miyawaki Sakura and Matsui Jurina.

Maeda Atsuko and Oshima Yuko will make cameo appearances as Majijo OGs.

Only episode 1 and 2 will be aired on television (august 24th, Nippon TV), the remaining episodes will be streamed exclusively on Hulu JPN.

There will be 10 episodes in total.

Majisuka Gakuen 5 'transcends' the school drama setting, there will be fights involving the yakuza / mafia and the police.

Really trying to see the point of this. Were they that desperate for a new season?

I mean what's the point of this even being on TV to began with? Why is going to be only streamed beginning with episode 3?

This is going to be so rushed.

 

It's probably more profitable to be streaming Majisuka on Hulu than to air it on TV.

 

Expected ratings are probably not good enough to stream the whole thing on TV?

 

It's probably a space filler for some shows but yeah kinda expected they would air it on Hulu exclusively.

 

The characters seem kinda different from season 4? o___o Sakura is not lead, Sakura has a gun, Jurina and Haruppi are there, Yui's hair is like in season 2. This looks interesting somehow. Maybe this happens some months/years after season 4. Or maybe it's a complete different story? But Paruru still looks like Salt (her styling), so I think this is (probably) the continuation of season 4 but with changes in some roles + new roles (Jurina, Haruppi).

 

Akimoto told us there would be a new season right after Majisuka 4 ended. This was probably in the works quite a while ago actually. I guess they want to show the first two episodes on t.v first to reach a larger audience and then switch to hulu for more profitability (maybe they had some contract with hulu ). My only gripe with Hulu is the stream quality.

Overall I'm excited about the show. Love the cast especially Jurina being one of the mains again and Haruppi looks awesome. I hope they have a special episode on AKBingo again to explain the drama.

 

I'm thinking this has nothing S4 tbh. I'm thinking its a new story (like MG3). But who knows.

But with the way some girls have weapons, I doubt this is based in a school (would be a f*cked up school If it was)

Yes, Jurina looks different than any other role she did before. So I think it's probably a new role. Haruppi never had a role, so it's definitely new role for her too. Then Sakura, different outfit, different hair, and she has a gun. Looks like a different role too. Then Yui is alike to season 2 but it doesn't mean that it's not a new role. It's only Paruru who still look like Salt. That's why I have doubts, but maybe they just didn't bother to change her style/hair XD

Ah, if it's a yakuza/mafia setting, then this is probably a new story? Interesting After season 4 ended, when they said they'll make a season 5 soon, I thought it would be Salt vs Sakura again. I didn't expect something new. But if they really try something else, I'd like it ^-^ I like their styling like this!

 

I hope Sayanee has a big role in it too *-* it always seems to me like AKS is neglecting her

I'm aware. Yoshimoto is not at all neglecting her lol. She always has work with NMB and solo related activities. Her activities with AKB and Team K, however, are monitored by AKS, as they own these.
