Baito AKB (バイトAKB) is a group of members who have a part-time status within the group, having a temporary contract until February 2014, after which it can be renewed. These members participate in handshake events, stages and rehearsals part-time, being paid ¥1000 per hour.
The project is sponsored by the part-time job company "Baitoru". It is coupled with a promo campaign which includes a song and CM with all Baito AKB members alongside a main group senbatsu called Baitoru Rotation.
The announcement of the project came on August 10th 2014 and afterwards on September 24th, the 53 winnners were announced. Between the unveil and the start in October 2014, four members left.
