AKB48

AKB48 is the creation of legendary producer Akimoto Yasushi, a female theatre-based Idol group set in Akihabara where their theatre resides, created in 2005 and currently signed under King Records. AKB48 holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's "largest pop group". Currently, it consists of four teams: Team A with 14 members, Team K and Team B with 15 members, and Team 4 with 16 members summing up to a total of 60 members as of July, 2012. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members. Currently, they hold the record of having the highest overall single sales (of a female group) on the Oricon charts.

SKE48

SKE48 is a idol group based in Sakae and produced by Akimoto Yasushi, under avex trax, originally from Nippon Crown records (until May 28, 2011). The group, established in 2008, currently consists of three teams, Team S, Team KII and Team E. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members.

NMB48

NMB48 is a idol group based in Osaka and produced by Akimoto Yasushi, under laugh out loud records. The group currently consists of three teams, Team N, Team M and Team BII. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members.

HKT48

HKT48 is a idol group based in Fukuoka and produced by Akimoto Yasushi. Only Team H was announced. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members.

SDN48

SDN48 is a idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and signed under Universal Music. SDN48 is known to be the mature version of AKB48 with members aged 20 and above, they perform in the AKB48 theater throughout the week. The group's members are currently divided into 1st Generation, 2nd Generation and 3rd Generation. All the members graduated from the group on March 31, 2012.

JKT48

JKT48 is a Indonesian idol group based in Jakarta and produced by Akimoto Yasushi. The group it is the first AKB48's sister group outside of Japan. Currently all members are Research Students. The members were announced on November 3, 2011. The group also have two Transferred AKB48 Members.

TPE48

TPE48 is a Taiwanese girl group based in Taipei. They are currently holding auditions for the group.

SNH48

SNH48 is a Chinese idol group based in Shangai and produced by Akimoto Yasushi. The group it is the second AKB48's sister group outside of Japan. Currently all members are Research Students. The group also have two Transferred AKB48 Members.

Nogizaka46

Nogizaka46 (乃木坂46) is a idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and it's the first rival group from AKB48. The members were announced on June 29, 2011.
