AKB48 is the creation of legendary producer Akimoto Yasushi, a female theatre-based Idol group set in Akihibara, created in 2005 and currently signed under Records The group consists of three teams, Team A, Team K and Team B. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members.
SKE48
SKE48 is a female theater-based idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and currently signed under Nippon Crown records. SKE48 is known to be the sister-group of AKB48 established in 2008 with their activities based in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. The group currently consists of two teams, Team S and Team KII. There is also a trainee team, Research Students, compiled of replacement members.

SDN48 is a female theater-based idol group produced by Akimoto Yasushi and signed under Universal Music. SDN48 is known to be the mature version of AKB48 with members aged 18 and above, they perform in the AKB48 theater every Saturday night. The group's members are currently is divided into 1st Generation and 2nd Generation. There is also a trainee team, Under Girls, compiled of replacement members.
