So I got curious whether Nogizaka members mentioned Karin, so I was searching for any posts and tweets talking about this. And I found out that Yamazaki Rena mentioned her the other day! In her instagram live she said that she watched NazeKoi MV and she likes Karin

I might have been thinking of this Nogi page from 2channel last November, which I could have found via this matome site post. In it, some Nogi fans -- not Nogi members -- find Karin's excellence threatening. I suspect Nogi members would not say anything about feeling threatened, but just say they liked Karin, if they did (as above).

First half Karin, second half Run-chan. Karin’s previous statement that she loves radio, but doesn't listen to it gets more attention. I think she means she loves doing radio, but does not listen to shows. She is certainly talkative enough. She has said she feels more comfortable just talking and not being shown.

And please make a point of clicking on the three photos in the middle of @dinbradpitt's post above. Beautiful and real. In the next photo, of Karin with a red wind-bell, the card she's holding says "Sakura" (=cherry blossom). Also, "Karin" in Karin's name is spelled with kanji that mean "summer (wind-)bell."

Here's a subbed version of the SokoSaku Microscope, along with a subtitle file (.ass file) you can use with a video you already have.

The TV version is a short one, as usual, and Karin's role is not as varied as in other songs, but still she is wonderful. I also liked bits from Run-chan, TakeYui, Mii-chan, and Ao-chan. And also the part early on where everyone puts a hand on their neighbour's shoulder and the whole group sways like a single organism.

On last Sunday's SokoSaku, in the academic skills competition, Karin and Ten-chan once again walked away with the honours as bottom of the group. Matsudaira might have joined them, if she was still around. As Sawabe quoted from the last time: "Ten-chan, Fujiyoshi, Matsudaira." Karin was shocked that she failed the multiplication test, but had to admit that eight times three is not 21.

On last Sunday's SokoSaku, it turned out that Karin was not among the most baka members, after all, but was tied for 17th, taking all subjects together. Other members were shocked when she ranked that high. They showed her correct answer to a math problem I didn't even understand, lol:



How could she answer that when she got 8x3 wrong, they asked. I guess she's pretty good at math, they said, and she felt forced to agree.

On the other hand, whenever I see Karin's Japanese writing, as in her monthly message (above), it seems to me among the worst I've ever seen, lol. Not that it affects how much I like her.

I loved tmi's translation (above) of Karin and Hono's conversation about Inoue. What they said made Inoue sound as nice as she appears to be.

 

Yeah she must be good at math. I think the problem both her and Ten had with basic multiplication was that they had memorized the answers. Karin for example probably knew that 3 times something=27, but didn't remember if it was 3x8 or 3x9. If she had paid more attention she would have noticed that there is a pattern: 8, 16, ?, 32, 40, etc and would have realized that 27 didn't fit. Ten I am guessing knew that that the answer to 1x8 was one of those two numbers, but got confused and wrote 1 instead of 8.

That photo of risa and karin..ten would he jealous

 

In her most recent blog, she says she attended all three nights of BACKS LIVE. She said it was so wonderful, like a dream. Also, she thanks guests at the recent Meet & Greet for making her laugh so much. She thinks she had more fun than anyone. She asks people to please make her laugh at the next one, too.

She says she will appear in these three events:
TV Tokyo music festival 30 June 5:40pm.
THE MUSIC DAY 3 July 3pm on.
ROCK IN JAPAN festival 7 August.

She made this blog post on 25 June. Her previous post was on 20 May. I wonder what she has been doing in between? Besides some down-time, I'm hoping she has been acting in a movie/drama, or practicing the title song she will centre on the next release. Photos from the blog:

 

After seeing her centering the 2 songs that are arguably the best/most-popular from Sakurazaka46 so far, I now understand what the people conducting the auditions saw in her. There is a cute, in-between state of a girl and a woman vibe in her. I'm not sure I can accurately define it with words, but you know it when you see it. I haven't watched the last subbed episode of Sokosaku yet, but I did see on Twitter snippets of her "battle" with Yui-Pon. And however it can be defined as, it was in full display!

 

Karin was so incredibly cute in the latest SokoSaku episode. I always find her cute but even I didn't expect that she can be this cute! She's just the cutest!

It was evident since a long time ago that Karin admires Pon. It was even noticable in KeyaKake episodes back in 2020 (for example, Pon was the only 1ki Karin chose to be in her team in ep. 216 and she also gave her Valentine chocolate in ep. 218). And Karin also expressed her feelings to Pon outside the show too. So it was obvious that Karin likes Pon and it was so exciting to watch her finally confess her feelings to Pon haha. And again, Karin is so cute!


It's so nice to see that Karin is so close with her senpais now. I remember how in their debut year 2ki were getting close to 1ki... well, except Karin. The only senpai she was close to was Mon who was actively reaching out to her. Karin even talked about it somewhere, she said that 1ki (except Mon) thought that Karin prefers to be alone so they didn't try to get close to her. So when Mon graduated I was worried for Karin, since her favorite senpai whom she admired so much and who she could rely on was no longer in the group. So I'm really glad to see that it's not the case anymore and there are a few senpais she can freely talk to. It's so nice to see that Karin is coming out of her shell and that 1ki notice her too. I hope that Sakurazaka46 is/will be the place where Karin can gain confidence in herself and come out of her shell even more

 

So... a love triangle brewing between Risa, Pon, and Karin?

 

It seems so, haha.

 

Quoted for truth. Her little spin. The way she delicately tossed the mic down. The tiny instant where her eyes shot wider in some kind of momentary confusion. The way she poked her fingers into her cheeks. So many little expressions, all so cute, not all perfectly understandable. Yes, she is quiet and not a standard-issue variety performer, but I really like it that when she does come through with something, she keeps giving us ideas and reactions no-one else does, a lot of them pleasantly weird. New every minute.
