HKT48’s song “Kataomoi no Karaage(Amakuchi Hime) ” has been chosen as the ending theme song for the upcoming TV anime “My Little Pony:Friendship Is Magic“

I am not sure how I should feel about this. I think its great the HKT was chosen but I cannot help but despise "My Little Pony".

 

My little Pony has a large male following in their 20ies on the internet which would be the exact target audience of any idol group.
If that song gets some attention on the internet because of that connection there might be more non-Japanese HKT48 fans joining our ranks.
I'm excited for the girls! They might not know we're here but we have a voice too and can support them.

 

I'm pretty sure it's just for the Japanese dub

 

Wow, a song of theirs was really picked to be the MLP ending theme? That's awesome.

I wonder if MLP will make as many waves in Japan as it did here. I doubt it somehow, but stuff like the Powerpuff Girls also got brought to Japan and had some success there.

I'm sure some people will become HKT fans because of this as well, since the MLP in foreign languages is a curiosity. Some MLP fans overseas are bound to stumble upon it and, hey, they may like it.

From all their G+ post, HKT girls are really grateful to have such result. Those are very encouraging, even I couldn't believe this single would score such high in sales.

Now they are all fired up to do their best. This is really positive. With all this pressure as "least popular" sister group, i think this 1 first place will give to HKT a lot more of credits and exposure. It's 100% benefits.

Don't doubt the power of bronies. Would not be surprised at all if some started popping up in the HKT48 fandom (or even just the 48 fandom period) due to this tie-in, just like Momoclo and Babymetal has managed to attract Metalheads overseas who wouldn't normally touch Idols with a ten foot pole. Like Private Laughter said, the internet opens a lot of doors.

although they've been having a lot of shoots now, i think it's fair cause every time a solo akb artis or group release something they get all these gravure spreads and immense scans, i guess it's part of the marketing and raising their exposure.
