Ahh, what a brutal match-up.

This would probably be the first time (that I can remember) that I'd root against Takamina and Nyannyan... But I'm at least glad to have Myao on my side this time (YJ7 vs YM7 tsk tsk) . White team all the way! My loyalties lie wherever Miichan goes... irate:
Oh wait! I'm remembering Myao in Sone...

Still unknown. It seems likely, though.

They all sang during the karaoke events at Aki Matsuri last year, so it's not that much of a stretch

You didn't like the karaoke event at Tokyo Aki Matsuri last year? Cause they are probably two of my favorite shows of all time. I always take that show with me when I'm on long intercontinental flights

^ Oh, I liked it ... it was a great event - for its purpose. It was a really "fun" event. But I have been hoping to see a "serious" singing contest where the girls REALLY show off what they are capable of. [nod]

I just hope this Kohaku event is going to be a "serious" singing contest - instead of another "fun" event like the karaoke concert at Tokyo Aki Matsuri. Like how Myao totally ruined that Sone song Zobii mentioned ... and of course ... the re-imagined Warota and their Kanpeki Gu None ... ... it could've been so great ...

Still, it was a really fun event and there were a few very good performances - like Yukirin/Sae, Yuka/Natsuki, and of course - Wasamin was just epic. =D

On a side note: *Looking at your signature* ... I see ... so Takajo Aki is still number 1 ...

well, plenty of acts on the actual Kohaku aren't singing live~

i think the AKB one will have a few actual live singing parts, and the rest is more about performances and other stuff

yeah, the real kohaku isn't really that much of a singing contest either.

and if you watched last year's kohaku, next to mizuki nana, acchan/tomochin/yuko looked like amateurs singing the pretty cure song.

since the karaoke contest was karaoke and used songs from other artists (giving them no choice but to sing), i'm mostly expecting this concert to be akb songs and therefore lip synched.

i'd still love it if it were actually live singing though

Really? A "lip-synced singing contest"? ... That's the first I've ever heard of ...

Much like kohaku itself, it's an entertainment contest. So the whole performance is taken into account.
The karaoke contest was live because the girls put the show together themselves, they chose their performances and their groups etc I was expecting this to be much the same hence why it would be live.

They better be signing.

It's so sad that you rarely hear them sing after the release of RIVER. I was just watching the Kamikyoku Matsuri on NHK, and it was just a blast listening to them singing live (the good and bad).

If they broadcast on google+, I may have to fold and setup an account.

i hope their vocal skill now better than before.
if their vocal skill still like at aki matsuri,
then, its practically yukirin will handle all the stresses.

PS: yamamoto so dangerous, she can beat all white with just one metal-melody guitar player.

When I think about the White Team, it almost seems like they're trying to set them up to fail against the Red Team because a lot of them aren't strong in singing.

However, Yamamoto is not alone when it comes to guitar playing since Yuko (White Team captain) can also play the guitar and I'm sure there are other members that could play instruments really well.

Well .. I guess if this turns into more of a "talent" contest than a "singing" contest .. then we really don't know what white team has in store. Maybe then the two teams will be more balanced than we think.

A talent contest? I'm not sure what that is. So are they/we going to judge the girls on actual talent for once?
I have no clue what to expect, I've never seen the New Years show too. Any information on how to vote?

Yuko plays bass, Sakiko piano, Yui plays drums Mariko plays air ocarina. What a cool band that would be

not mistaken Mayuyu plays an instrument too right since she is/as in her school's wind instrument club?
