She secretly applied for NGT48's first generation auditions without telling her parents, but did not pass the first round. She applied because her grandmother lives in Niigata, NGT48's hometown.
She also secretly applied for HKT48's 4th generation auditions, but was not selected.
She was an extra (audience member) in the music video for HKT48's 7th single, 74okubun no 1 no Kimi e.
Her parents initially opposed her auditioning for AKB48, but ultimately relented.
She served as the center of the AKB48 16th Generation's first live performance.
Theater manager Hosoi Takahiro commented that she is good at dancing, singing, and full of laughter. He complimented her skills during MC segments and her determined personality.
At the AKB48 16th Anniversary Team Shuffle she was made the captain of Team K, and is also the youngest member of the team. This is the first time in the history of the 48 Groups that the youngest member of a team has been its captain.
When practicing the dance for Moto Kare desu the sole of her left practice shoe wore down completely and developed a hole from sliding on it so much. Asai Nanami told the story in a SHOWROOM stream, and asked Manaka’s fans to gift her new shoes.
In a 2022 interview she shared that her goal for the year was to be more observant of herself and others, in order to find small ways to improve everyone’s performance.
She enrolled in university in spring 2022, but withdrew on July 1st, 2022. Her reason was that she wanted to concentrate on AKB48 work.

History

2016

On October 16th, passed the final stage of auditions for AKB48's 16th Generation.
On December 8th, officially joined AKB48 as a member of its 16th Generation.

2017

On April 11th, had her first appearance on AKBINGO!.
On May 31st, was part of her first song, Maebure, on AKB48's 48th single Negaigoto no Mochigusare.
On August 16th, was part of the shonichi performance of AKB48's 9th special stage, Sekai wa Yume ni Michite Iru.
On December 8th, at the AKB48 12th Anniversary Shuffle, got promoted to Okabe Team A.

2018

On May 4th, was part of the shonichi performance of AKB48's 11th special stage, Idol Shuugyouchuu♡.

2019

On September 24th, was part of the final episode of AKBINGO!.

2021

On August 15th, tested positive for COVID-19.
On August 24th, resumed activities.
On December 8th, at the AKB48 16th Anniversary Team Shuffle, it was announced she would be transferred Team K and also become the new captain (Taguchi Team K).

2022

On January 31st, appeared in the BUBKA magazine alongside Asai Nanami, Omori Miyuu, Kubo Satone, Kuranoo Narumi, Hama Sayuna and Mukaichi Mion.
On March 2nd, had her first appearance on AKB48, Saikin Kiita? ~Issho ni Nanka Yatte Mimasen ka?~ (AKB48、最近聞いた？～一緒になんかやってみませんか？～).
On March 9th, was part of the senshuuraku performance for Team A's Mokugekisha stage.
On April 19th, transferred to Team K and officially instated as captain (Taguchi Team K).
On April 25th, was part of the shonichi performance for Team K's Saka Agari stage.
On May 29th, AKB48 announced she would go on a health related hiatus and pause all activities, including social media and online talks.
