Announced on April 26, 2009 at the AKB48 Official Blog, the AKB48 13th Single Senbatsu Sousenkyo ~Kamisama ni Chikatte Gachi desu~ (AKB48 13thシングル 選抜総選挙 ~神様に誓ってガチです~) was the first Senbatsu Election. It was held on July 8, 2009 at Akasaka Blitz. Fans made their voices heard by voting for their favorite AKB48/SKE48 member at the first annual AKB48 members election. The first day result were released on June 24, 2009.
The top 21 members are featured in the Senbatsu of the group's 13th single (15th single overall), Iiwake Maybe. Meanwhile, the 22th to 30th place members join the Undergirls for the B-side track.
