OUT OF 48 is a weekly AKB48 variety show, formed on the base of an Audition Show. It replaced the time slot of AKB48 Sayonara Mouri-san.

Overview
The show was first announced on the 44th episode of AKB48 Sayonara Mouri-san on February 23rd, 2023. It would replace the time slot covered by AKB48 Sayonara Mouri-san. It was announced that the show would cover the journey of an audition for a new girl group, and contestants would include both AKB48 members as well as entirely unrelated contestants. The new group will be produced by Ichinomiya Yuki and have their own crown program alongside their debut.
The rules for applying included a maximum age of 22, no current affiliation with an agency and either living in Tokyo or the willingness to relocate to Tokyo once passing the audition. Applications for auditioning would be open from 01:29, February 24th, to 23:59, March 19th.
Throughout March, promotional images of AKB48 members in the following order: Hirata Yuki, Chiba Erii, Oguri Yui, Tokunaga Remi, Yamauchi Mizuki, Sato Airi, Yamazaki Sora and Shitao Miu. On March 16th, a promotional teaser video with a preview of the title song Your Super Girl was released on all official social media platforms.
The full title song was released on streaming platforms on April 20th, 2023 and it was sung by Saito Haruna, Muto Orin, Taguchi Manaka, Suzuki Kurumi, Kurosu Haruka and Sakaguchi Nagisa.
25 AKB48 members and 23 general applicants will form 48 contestants to fight for the debut slot.
The first episode aired at 01:29 on April 21st, 2023.

- Out of 39 eligible AKB48 members, only Sato Minami turned down the invitation.
- Akihiro Kondo (Vocal mentor) previously work with SHINee, EXO, and NCT127. While Hirai Hana (Dance mentor) is the sister of TWICE's Momo.
- After the dance evaluation in episode 2, only 25/36 members survived to become official OUT OF 48 contestants. Taguchi Manaka and Ota Yuki resigned after the 1st meeting. The result was revealed at AKB48 Spring Concert 2023 ~Sukida! To Sakebou~.
