2022 in AKB48 Group

The following is a list of events and releases that have happened, or are expected to happen in 2022 from the AKB48 Group.

Like in 2021, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in several releases, concerts, and events being cancelled, postponed, or scaled back.

Members

• January 1:
  • NMB48 holds their third team shuffle NMB48 Team Shuffle 2022. Promoted Members will form Team N and Team M while Kenkyuusei members will form Team BII without being promoted.
  • Ike Honoka, Kuroshima Sakura, Sakashita Mako, Sakata Misaki, Sakamoto Risa, Sakurada Ayaka, Takahashi Sae, Tatsumoto Yayoi, Tanaka Yukino, Fukuno Ami, Matsuoka Sakura, Matsuno Mio, Matsumoto Mihina, and Yamamoto Hikaru join NMB48 as 8th generation Kenkyuusei.
• March 18: Okada Nana ends her concurrent position with STU48.
• April 5: Omura Anzu, Shinohara Kyoka, Sugimoto Riina, Hara Yune, Morimoto Kurumi, Yamamura Sakura, and Wakita Aoi join SKE48 as 11th Generation Kenkyuusei.
• May 3: Okada Azumi, Okamura Rio, Kurushima Yuka, and Morokuzu Noa join STU48 as the winners of the New Wave Project Kenkyuusei.
• May 4: Ota Yuki, Kohama Kokone, Sato Airi, Hashimoto Eriko, Hasegawa Niina, Hatakeyama Nozomi, Hirata Yuki, Hotei Moka, Masai Mayuu, Mizushima Miyuu, and Yamazaki Sora join AKB48 as 17th generation Kenkyuusei.
• May 7: Ikuno Rina, Izawa Miyu, Ishimatsu Yuina, Ihara Hanna, Eguchi Kokoha, Ouchi Rinka, Oba Risaki, Kawashima Yuna, Kitagawa Hiiro, Shibui Mina, Tachibana Kokoro, Fukui Karen, Fujino Kokoha, Matsumoto Urara, Mogami Nanaka, Morisaki Saaya, Yasui Hina, and Yanase Reia join HKT48 as 6th generation Kenkyuusei.
• June 1: Arai Ririno, Isobe Rua, Kita Hanae, Kitamura Yuha, Kimoto Yuna, Shibano Yuki, Suizu Natsuki, Sugimoto Moe, Suzuki Ririka, Nakajima Hikari, Hase Sumomo, and Minamikawa Haruka join NGT48 as 3rd generation Kenkyuusei.
• July 1: AKB48 Team TP's new units Unit T and Unit P are formed. The units Daisy, Bellflower, and Sakura are disbanded.
• July 13: DEL48 and MUB48 cease operations after the closure of their agency YKBK48 Entertainment.
• August 26: Mari returns to MNL48.
• September 3: Du XinYi, Wang YuTing, Zhang ShiYu, Zhang YaQian, and Zheng YuShan join AKB48 Team SH as 5th generation Trainees.
• September 26: Huang Yi-lin, Huang Yu-yan, Chang Shao-tong, and Su Heng-yu join AKB48 Team TP as 3rd generation trainees.
• October 16: HKT48 holds their second team shuffle HKT48 11th Anniversary Team Shuffle that will take effect on February 2023. Team TII is set to temporarily disband and the group will only be operated as two teams.
• October 30:
  • Berry, Emmy, Janry, L, Marine, Micha, Nene, Palmmy, Patt, Sindy, and Wawa join BNK48 as 4th generation trainees.
  • Emma, Ginna, Jingjing, Lookked, Nana, Papang, and Twobam join CGM48 as 2nd generation trainees.
• October 31: Alya Amanda, Anindya Ramadhani, Aulia Asyira, Cathleen Nixie, Celline Thefani, Chelsea Davina, Cynthia Yaputera, Dena Natalia, Desy Natalia, Gendis Mayrannisa, Grace Octaviani, Greesella Adhalia, Jeane Victoria, and Michelle Alexandra join JKT48 as 11th generation trainees.
• December 19: Aobara Yuka, Aobara Waka, Ikeda Tenna, Itagaki Koyori, Kinugasa Ayami, Sakamoto Reio, Shibutani Sayuki, Tanaka Misora, Nishi Yuma, Nishijima Rio, Nishida Honoka, Nihei Manami, Haga Rei, Funahashi Reina, Furukawa Yukino, Miyamoto Ami, and Yoshimi Ayane join NMB48 as 9th generation Kenkyuusei.

• January 22: AKB48 Team TP announces 3rd Generation auditions.
• May 30: AKB48 Team SH announces 5th Generation auditions.
• June 2:
  • BNK48 announces 4th Generation auditions.
  • CGM48 announces 2nd Generation auditions.
• July 20: NMB48 announces 9th Generation auditions.
• August 6: JKT48 announces 11th Generation auditions.
• October 9: AKB48 announces 18th Generation auditions.
• November 10: STU48 announces 3rd Generation auditions.

Kenkyuusei promotions

• January 1: Wada Miyu is promoted to Team N.
• January 13:
  • Kuriyama Rina and Sakamoto Rino are promoted to Team H.
  • Ichimura Airi, Kawahira Hijiri, Tanaka Iori, Nagano Miyabi, and Murakami Wakana are promoted to Team KIV.
  • Goto Hinano is promoted to Team TII.
• January 15:
  • Ishizuka Mizuki, Kito Mikuru, and Sugiyama Anan are promoted to Team S.
  • Aoki Rika, Igarashi Hayaka, Ito Miki and Nishii Mio are promoted to Team KII.
  • Sawada Kanon and Hayashi Mirei are promoted to Team E.
• January 22:
  • Wang Yi-chia is promoted to Bellflower.
  • Lin Yi-yun is promoted to Sakura.
• May 28: Angel, Champoo, Fortune, Kaiwan, Kaning, Marmink, Nenie, Pim, Punch, and Sita are promoted to Team C.
• June 2:
  • Mean, Yayee, Hoop, Grace, and Eaarn are promoted to Team BIII.
  • Paeyah, Yoghurt, Popper, Pancake, Ratah, Pampam, and Kaofrang are promoted to Team NV.
• July 16:
  • Sakata Misaki is promoted to Team N.
  • Lee Siyeon is promoted to Team M.
  • Asao Momoka, Kameno Zion, Kuroda Fuuwa, Satsuki Aika, Sumino Wakana, Hayakawa Yuna, and Yoshino Misaki are promoted to Team BII official members.
• October 30:
  • Fame, Monet and Peak are promoted to Team BIII.
  • Eve and Earth are promoted to Team NV.
• November 13:
  • Tsai Yi-jou is promoted to Unit T.
  • Cheng Chia-yu is promoted to Unit P.
• December 17: Lin Ting-li is promoted to Unit P.
